"They went for the most powerful system not held back...",if you mean the version coming out in 2016, then yeah you are right.

Of course ps4 fans are scorned, they supported the last Tomb Raider the most out selling the Xbox version 3 to 1. That's like Sony saying they aren't going to sell ps4s in Europe for a year.

That has been answered a long time ago. All will be supported. XB1 is a DX12 box. The 1st of its kind. Software just needs to catch up. Every presentation by MSFT available about DX12 market it as for PC, XB1. Phil said full DX12 coming. AMD said benefits of DX12 will be supported by XB1. Remember when MSFT still had features they didnt reveal? Remember what AMD posted?

Its no big secret. People just want to believe its BS. Well we all know that gaming isn't instant noodles, and it takes time to see the possibilities. MSFT showed off Quantum break last year and look at that game. The physics in that game is mind numbing. If XB1 can do that w/o DX12, tile resources or cloud, then i cant wait to see what it can do when that stuff is implemented. The games are the proof.

"Tiled Resources is in dx11.2 but limited to windows 8, tier 3 tiled resources is in 11.3"

I shouldve made that more clearer. I was way ahead because of knowing that windows 8 wont bring about the changes that matter for DX12.

"PRT is from opengl not AMD/nvidia dude."

Never said that PRT is from Nvidia. I said it was from AMD because it was a feature implemented in their graphic core next tech. Their answer to megatexturing which is much older. When AMD 1st introduce their more efficient way of handling mega texturing, the demo was written in openGL. I dont know the history before that. So im not saying AMD invented the technique, Im saying they invented a more efficient way of implementing it and thats PRT. The confusion comes in when pple use megatexuring, PRT, Tile Resources interchangeably when in fact they are all slightly different, with each new iteration offering a better more efficient way of doing things, and sometime add new features to go along with texture streaming. Thats what Ive read so far on this. If you have a deeper understanding of the history, please link me to your sources. You know I love to read :)

"With out knowing how much of DX12 MS console supports its impossible to know what can be done"

AMD sits on the board that Microsoft has assembled to define the features for DirectX, and they said..

http://i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w586/mr_mxyzptlk1/original_zpsaz1ijnnx.jpg

"No AMD/nvidia wont create dx12 features"

Yes they can and will in due time. These guys (MSFT+AMD+NVIDIA) only got together to discuss the hardware features they'd like to put in their GPUs that will support DX12 for the next two or three years. What happens after that? New GPU's with better features that supports DX12+ still. MSFT cant & wont stop them from doing that.

"If xbox does dynamic raytraced shadows in the future it needs to have conservative raster which is a 12.1"

Thats covered. Al these features XB1 have access to. And according to MSFT its in DX3D 12. The presentation started with this image,
http://i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w586/mr_mxyzptlk1/d312_zpsbsiebna2.jpg

And somewhere in the middle they mentioned..

http://i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w586/mr_mxyzptlk1/d3122_zpsvlbyfx2w.jpg

All these talks always mention that they are for PC and XB1. Hense the reason why when AMD did their presentation, they made sure to mention that the benefits of DX12 will extend to XB1. Dont know what else to share about that. MSFT partners are saying it. Thats fine enough for me.

Good point on the ND knowing the in n outs of PS4 hardware. But you dont believe that they can make their graphic drivers more efficient? I do.

Good point on the NVidia + MSFT relationship. MSFT was real sneaky about that. N yup they did hide from AMD. AMD sorta admit it last year. What you said about Nvidia having DX12.1 already is on point. I forgot about that.

"It will have the biggest affect on the PC though because the xbox still lacks raw power."

I tackled that below. :)

Tiled Resources is in dx11.2 but limited to windows 8, tier 3 tiled resources is in 11.3 which is the useful one. PRT is from opengl not AMD/nvidia dude.

I dont know if they will use tiled resources theres 3 tiers. tier 2 does 2D surfaces, tier 3 does 3D stuff like smoke effects and that is where the real performance improvements will come from. Volumetric smoke effects are a performance killer regardless of gpu power so being able to tile that gets a lot of performance back.

With out knowing how much of DX12 MS console supports its impossible to know what can be done on it but like i say it is still limited by the weak GPU tbh whether you tile stuff or not. No AMD/nvidia wont create dx12 features as thats controlled by MS. If xbox does dynamic raytraced shadows in the future it needs to have conservative raster which is a 12.1 feature but that requires more GPU power because it needs a higher pixel fill rate as the edges of surfaces are filled out properly. This nvidia tech demo is pretty good to show 12.1 effects.

no to do a game like Uncharted 4 on the ps4 they are using everything. If the gen is only 5-6 years long ND will only be able to release UC4 and TLOU 2 before the ps5 comes out. ND make the playstations API so they know it inside out and will be using everything the ps4 has to offer.

They didnt hide anything from AMD/Nvidia well not nvidia anyway possibly from AMD, nvidia has DX 12.1 GPU's and those features take years to R+D and put into the chips. The problem is MS isnt telling us what is in there GPU. MS would of had to license the APU tech from AMD and then most likely worked with nvidia to develop all the DX12 features to add into the chip.

It will have the biggest affect on the PC though because the xbox still lacks raw power. Sure you can get more out via efficiency but that only goes for so long before you hit a brick wall with power

no to do a game like Uncharted 4 on the ps4 they are using everything. If the gen is only 5-6 years long ND will only be able to release UC4 and TLOU 2 before the ps5 comes out. ND make the playstations API so they know it inside out and will be using everything the ps4 has to offer.

They didnt hide anything from AMD/Nvidia well not nvidia anyway possibly from AMD, nvidia has DX 12.1 GPU’s and those features take years to R+D and put into the chips.
