Starting from gothic they give us a true rpg experience, they also leave a lot of bugs but the they give us a freedom that no one else can; in what other games you actually can go everywhere at the beginning of the game and even can win a fight with a monster a lot level superior to you (naturally every error will kill you and the fight last an eternity but you can)
