Rockstar’s Vice President of Writing Has Seemingly Left the Company

Michael Unsworth joined Rockstar in 2007, and went on to work on GTA 4, GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption, and Red Dead Redemption 2, among other titles.

Rockstar is moving full steam ahead on the development of Grand Theft Auto 6, but when the company moves forward into that next era, it will seemingly be doing so without a key figure behind the scenes.

As spotted by Rockstar Intel, it seems that Michael Unsworth, vice president of writing at Rockstar, has left the company. That’s as per recent activity on his LinkedIn profile, which no longer lists Rockstar as his current employer, and mentions 2023 as the end of his tenure as vice president of writing.

Unsworth joined Rockstar a little over 16 years ago, in 2007, and has gone on to work on most major Rockstar releases since then. That includes the likes of Grand Theft Auto 4 and 5, Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2Max Payne 3, and L.A. Noire, among others.

Rockstar is, of course, currently at work on Grand Theft Auto 6. The highly anticipated title is yet to be formally unveiled, but reports have suggested it will be out sometime before April 2025.
