Rumour: Ubisoft planning THQ bid

Well, this is interesting

Ubisoft is planning to make a ‘bargain’ bid to buy out THQ’s studios and intellectual properties, according to MCV’s sources.

If successful with the bid, Ubisoft would own five new game studios and several new franchises such as Saint’s Row, Darksiders, WWE, Homefront, Company of Heroes, Red Faction, Warhammer 40K and others.

While Ubisoft is currently in talks with THQ, the report also says that they’re okay with holding out until THQ becomes forced to sell their assets for a lower price, meaning that Ubisoft is going for a ‘bargain bid’, as mentioned above.

If they do acquire THQ’s assets, it would be completely up to Ubisoft to continue or discontinue the franchises they’ll have at their disposal. Specific ones like Saint’s Row, Darksiders, Homefront and WWE could do them a lot of good, and Company of Heroes in the PC market.

But of course, it’s a rumour, for now. SO nothing’s confirmed yet.

Stay tuned, we will keep you updated.
