Russian ban on videogames possible after Moscow Shooting

Rockstar's Manhunt is partly a reason.

It’s those times where all you can do is just shake your head in disappointment because videogames are being blamed for heavily influencing people to do some nasty stuff. In Russia recently, Dmitry Vinogradov shot down 6 co-workers at a pharmaceutical warehouse, and Rockstar’s 2003 game Manhunt is being blamed for that.

Partly blamed of course, because the guy was not stable having broke up with his girl friend and had been drinking for 5 days. However, the authorities are looking to ban videogames after this event. Manhunt is a pretty gory game and something that is banned in a lot of countries. Whether it can cause people to actually try things in real life is something that hard to believe.

Moscow news reports that Vinogradov “had been drinking for five days and posted an extremely misanthropic manifesto on his social network account hours prior to the killing.”

They are planning to start an enquiry to get Manhunt banned in Russia and to regulate the sales of violent games.
