Nintendo held a special mini Direct broadcast dedicated just for Super Smash Bros. earlier today, and in that, they confirmed that all the leaks were indeed true- Roy from Fire Emblem (who had previously featured in Super Smash Bros. Melee), and Ryu from Street Fighter, are both indeed coming to Super Smash Bros. as DLC. What’s more, they are both available right now.
Roy comes for the standard price of $4 if you want to buy him for just one platform, and $5 if you want him on both, while Ryu will cost you $7 if you want him on both- the reason being that you also get an accompanying stage with him, themed on his signature stage from Street Fighter II.
This isn’t all the new content announced for Smash Bros. either- in addition, we also got confirmation that Dream Land, Mushroom Castle, and Hyrule Castle, all from the original Super Smash Bros. on the Nintendo 64, will be available for Super Smash Bros. 4; the long promised Miiverse mode and the tournament mode (online enabled) will also be available to everyone for free.
Finally, a plethora of Mii costumes were also announced for Super Smash Bros., covering a range of characters from Splatoon, Tekken, Mega Man, and Virtua Fighter.
All in all, the game got a smattering of new content today, which should keep it fresh even for those of you who have been playing it obsessively since its launch.
Super Smash Bros. is available exclusively on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
