Sega Is Bringing Sonic Boom to Comic Con

Both games to be playable.

Sega will be bringing Sonic to Comic Con, showcasing both of its upcoming Sonic Boom games- Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric for the Wii U, and Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal for the Nintendo 3DS- there. Both games were already highlighted as part of Nintendo’s own Comic Con game lineup (where it was promised that they would be playable in some form), so it looks like the spiky blue hedgehog’s newest incarnation will be getting a lot of exposure in the coming week.

Sonic Boom itself is a reboot of Sega’s long running mascot platforming series, and the two upcoming games are a part of Sega’s larger cross media strategy for Sonic going forward, with a Sonic Boom TV series also launching alongside the game. So far, initial impressions of the game have been extremely mixed, and the game’s demos have been met with widespread skepticism.

Hopefully, Sonic Boom is not a reversion to Sonic’s disastrous days of old, and is in fact a continuation of the upwards trajectory the hedgehog has been enjoying since 2010’s Sonic Colors on the Wii.
