Sega’s Acquisition of Atlus is Now Complete

Atlus's games to be published by Sega in North America.

Sega has completed its acquisition of Persona developer Atlus. The acquisition started in 2013 and with its completion, Atlus’s games will now be published by Sega in North America going forward. Since Atlus USA is a part of Sega now, it means that Yakuza 5 and Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F have been localized.

Both companies will identify as separate brands however. This change is “to simplify business accounts” while unifying both publishing arms. No games or products will be affected in the process.

Atlus CEO Naoto Hiraoka talked about the benefits of working with Sega. “After nearly a year working under the Sega Games division, both Sega of America and Atlus USA have thrived and released a combined total of 23 game products. Between Atlus’s ability to localize and release Japanese video game products efficiently and the strength of Sega of America’s reputation as a leading publisher in the industry, the situation could not be more symbiotic for both companies.”
