Sony doesn’t own the IP. The developers wouldn’t need to do the Kick Starter if Sony was involved with funding. In order for Sony to fund it directly, it would need to become a Sony IP and PS4 exclusive. The Kick Starter wasn’t Sony’s idea either. Sony simply found out about it and decided to use E3 to announce it to build hype and spread the word.

It’s disgusting that Microsoft drones are trying to use this to demonize Sony when Microsoft announced support for Early Access on Xbox One which is basically crowd funding just like Kick Starter. Probably because Xbots are salty because they’ve been begging for Shenmue 3 for years.

The fact that Shenmue 3 is happening is good news for gamers.
