Wow, this is great news. I remember back in the day the power struggle between 3dfx and power vr in the pc market. I had no idea they were still alive and kicking. It’s sure to be a monster of a console, superior to Sony’s custom gpu’s which are a nightmare to program for.

No. You don’t sign a license one day and go back in time and design the SoC into a product ! Sony already had the IP for Vita.

This is for future SoC’s – expect to see it in TV’s, BluRay players, phones, etc which will be Vita software compatible and won’t be using this IP for at least a other 9-18 months.

They already (almost certainly) have a Series 6 IP license from Imagination Technologies which will probably be in future console, tablet or laptop chips.
