Unfortunately multiplats are what the public show they are most into as you said they are designed to a broad audience. Multiple platforms help but even on each individual platform they do very well, games like The witcher, Fallout series, Batman, COD , Destiny, Overwatch and The Division to name a few have done very well on each console.
If they dominate what then do you expect? Would you put your money on that which is certain or uncertain. Right now what dominates is certain so putting money there is only obvious. This marketing deals cost a lot and they are done to generate finances.
The power thing may not matter to you but it certainly does in the industry as a great deal of it was made earlier in the generation with the resolution thing and now the power thing is the thing boosting Scorpio. Sony had the power advantage and used it well over Xbox one but wasted it on the pro when the Scorpio launches that power advantage will be in MS favor.
The Pro in my opinion is powerful but fails to accomplish what it tries to undertake. Games could be boosted or made to run at 1440p and better frames instead it goes for 4k which it basically can’t achieve but the Scorpio on the other hand is touting it will achieve this. Also there is nothing silly in expecting the Scorpio to live up to it’s name, it’s being touted as the most powerful not the best seller.

Determining factor, to me, is about a factor that determines a purchase. Multiplats are pretty much never in this conversation, except when they’re absent, as with Nintendo’s consoles. Otherwise, with the game being on multiple platforms, that game isn’t what would make someone buy one console over another.

I understand they dominate… but they should. They’re almost always designed and marketed to appeal to broad audiences. And, of course, those sales are over multiple platforms. Grand Theft Auto just has more mainstream appeal than The Last of Us.

The power thing… it really doesn’t matter. I mean, Sony already has the power advantage with the Pro, and all those marketing deals, and despite the PS4 just being more popular worldwide, the Pro isn’t setting the world on fire. Nobody expects it to, either. To expect that of the Scorpio is… well, silly.
