I googled and I could not find one mention ever of Microsoft turning down FF 14. Seeing as MS is pretty open to the idea of cross-play and Sony isn’t and Phil mentioned exclusivity in the same breath as FF 14. Let’s just say that Sony doesn’t want their people playing with other people and is willing and capable of demanding that exclusivity as it pertains to FF 14. And as they already said they wouldn’t bring FF 14 unless there was cross-play between all systems, it doesn’t take long to realize where the problem lies. Sony….

I want to cross play using the best online experience, which is proven to be Xbox live by independent tests, why would I want to cross play on a machine that is slower in all online aspects other than matchmaking ?

Maybe the old Microsoft refused, okay, but what about today? Why are people trying to find excuses to defend Sony in such matter? Can’t everybody, at least one time, think in a player perspective and try to not justify Sony actions? If this was not possible before because of Microsoft, let’s make it possible today.

Okay, Sony is the leader, maybe this isn’t great for their bussiness, but not bad at all for the players. I’m sure that if Sony simply had accepted it, no one would be trying to find excuses on why this is something bad and why this shouldn’t happen. At worst, it wouldn’t make a difference to those that don’t care. Maybe if people cared about the whole gamer community itself rather than only theirselfes or their favorite company’s stocks, who knows…

The point is not even the amount of players, even if Sony refused it and wasn’t the leader it would be the same to those that care for crossplay, the point is the bond of all players being in a single experience, may sound childish for some, yeah, but I think that it is no less than revolutionary and should be the standard. If old Microsoft refused it to Sony back in the days, Sony may prove that they are grand and accept it today.
