Splatoon 2 Is The Highest Selling Switch Game In Japan, Famitsu Reveals

Just barely edging out Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

To celebrate the Switch’s second anniversary, Japanese outlet Famitsu revealed (via Game Data Library on Twitter) the list of the top selling games on the system in Japan so far. By and large, the actual constituents of the list are not going to be a surprise to anyone—however, the exact order might end up interesting some of you.

For instance, the highest selling Switch game in Japan is Splatoon 2. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which launched in December last year, has actually almost caught up, and is about 95,000 units away from being the highest selling Switch game instead, but for now, Splatoon reigns at the top. Other than that, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Mario Odyssey follow, with Pokemon Let’s Go rounding out the top five, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild topping the next set of five.

You can see the full list below. You will be heartened to see that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has managed the top 20 (if barely).
