No theyll both be fine, either will shut down and if one does i hope its nvidia. cant imagine the price theyd charge for GPU’s if they were the sole GPU manufacturer.

Star Citizen is built for 4K right from the start and models are supposed to be able to scale from 4K down to 1080p or lower quite easily. no point building a game to last 10 years when you arent supporting the resolution that will be around then

nvidia will never support mantle tbh so its pretty much just for AMD but Roberts will support any technology if it helps the game also adding in latest techniques and stuff. nah its a development PC aint it needs lots of power especially if hes playing it in 4K, needs 2 titans to run the game at 4K and an extra titan to power through the unoptimised nature of it also theyll prolly use a system like that to render out some vids and stuff. Roberts will use HBAO+, TXAA all that stuff but where physx is concerned i dunno.

I was wondering because Chris Robers said the game’d support AMD’s Mantle. Ah ok. And yeah I forgot that Mantle is also platform agnostic so they won’t of course support any exclusive features that go to either company. Wow that’s pretty good specs he has working there. I wonder if that’s close to the minimum or recommended specs for the final game. You think it’s an inevitability one of them will shut down?

hahaha nooo star citizen will be completely platform agnostic. AMD and Nvidia are throwing hardware at them cus AMD make cpu’s ram and GPU’s there in a better position to give em whole systems whereas nvidia have bin throwing titans at roberts and other GPU’s. There supporting DX11, mantle, DX12 when that comes out etc doubt theyll support physx cus its one sided aint it they may use havok or there own implementation but yeah it should be good on which ever team ya choose roberts has a 4970K 6core intel 32GB ram and 3 titans sli, other systems have AMD others have quad core intels and high end GPU’s etc so they can test on both types of hardware

I guess they’re trying to rectify that by being the main setup for Star Citizen

yeah AMD have never really offered any brand new game worth mentioning, they offered thief and murdered soul but both of them where flops. nvidia seems to give out games ppl actually want

No i dont think thatll happen unless nvidia do it. AMD wont but its not alot of money considering its planned to be free for the lifetime of the game.

yeah exactly they may have one of those deals where you buy the GPU and get the game free but I highly doubt it. and yeah I suppose that’s the cycle of things. PC can never be too powerful since it’s always evolving which means the parts will always be there. speaking of which, I plan to get a gaming laptop. Currently I just don’t have the time at all to be building my own rig so far now I think I’ll just do that and then when I have more free time on my hands, I’ll get right to it.
