Reviews are so split down the middle here. Although to be honest, some people found StarFox Command to be okay for a Nintendo DS title. Either way, playing through the game myself, what I saw with this game differs from this article. I certainly believe more could have been done with this game from both developers. It's not even bad, like 2/10 bad. As for its future, at least it's not as struggling with a certain blue hedgehog right now.
The Star Fox was done was usually how it did since the first game, go through 3-5 planets to get the Venom, beat it, try another route. Star Fox 64 had to get you to complete mission in a way, where you go next depended if you completely certain requirements during the mission. The games focused more on replay ability rather than the length of it. It's always been like that. Star Fox Command also went this route in terms of making decisions that take you to other planets and sectors. This game is no exception, although it's a little less when compared to the Star Fox 64 games.
As for the story, it seems they are going back to the Lylat Wars for now, since Command was a what if story of a hot mess. All I know is that there's more to this franchise that should be brought out. I don't know if we will see that again, in a better way.
