Super Mario Maker 2’s First Update Is Out, Doesn’t Do Much

Not the meatiest update of all time.

Nintendo’s side scrolling platformer / platformer creation toolset, Super Mario Maker 2, is out now for the Switch, bringing the incredible experience to wider audiences. The game’s been receiving rave reviews since launch (it currently sits at score of 89 on Opencritic), to absolutely no one’s surprise, but as is the case with any other game, it hasn’t launched with a few issues here and there.

Nintendo have now put out the game’s first patch, update 1.0.1, which addresses some of those issues. Which issues exactly? We really can’t tell you. In typical Nintendo fashion, the patch notes (which are really just a single note) are pretty vague. The update, as per the notes, fixes issues “to make for a more pleasant gaming experience”. Which could really mean anything- but hey, no one ever said no to a more pleasant gaming experience.

Future updates for the game are probably going to be more significant- one of them is, anyway, when it introduces the option to let you play co-op with your friendsSuper Mario Maker 2 is out now on Nintendo Switch. Our review will be going live soon, so stay tuned.
