Nintendo’s Super Mario RPG, a remake of the classic SNES role-playing game, launched last week for the Nintendo Switch and performed well in physical sales for Japan. It also scored well with critics – check out the latest trailer below highlighting the same.
Developed by ArtePiazza (who also worked on various Dragon Quest titles), Super Mario RPG offers remade visuals and cutscenes. Exploration is mostly the same, with returning composer Yoko Shimomura providing some new orchestral arrangements for the music, though the classic soundtrack is still available.
As for the combat, several new mechanics, like damaging several opponents with perfectly timed strikes and the Triple Move, are available. There are also new features like the Gallery for viewing enemies and an option to face more challenging versions of bosses in the post-game. Head here for more details.
Fans of Mario RPGs can also look forward to Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, which launches next year for Nintendo Switch. However, it will seemingly run in 30 frames per second.
