Super Smash Bros. Trademark Filed By Nintendo

Is it finally happening?

You know what the Switch is really missing at this point? It’s missing Super Smash Bros. We already got Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart, Splatoon, and Fire Emblem, Pokemon, an Metroid are on the way- but we haven’t seen nor heard hide nor tail of Smash Bros. on Switch just yet.

But it has to be coming, right? It’s one of Nintendo’s biggest franchises, and no Nintendo console since the N64 has gone without a Smash Bros. game of its own. So surely a Switch Smash Bros. is coming soon, too? If you are holding out for one- well, here’s some good news for you. Apparently, Nintendo in Japan has filed a whole lot of trademarks- including one for Super Smash Bros. Which is good news!

I mean, it is completely meaningless news (they also filed trademarks for Splatoon, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda), but it does indicate that the brand may be about to be commercially leveraged again- and how does that happen but with a new release?

I’m grasping at straws here. Please announce a Smash Bros. for Switch soon, Nintendo. Please.
