Sharlto Copley. That's all you need to know.

That thing, that nobody wanted to be a thing, is now a thing. And by that I mean people actually care about exclusive television shows that are being made by people who predominantly make tech and video games.

Sony have teased footage for their first official original show Powers and it does look pretty good. This bloke was a hero, he could fly (which makes him cool right off the bat) and he was above the law. And no, he’s not Superman.

Now, if you recognize this chap, then props to you because it’s the one and only Sharlto Copley! You should already know that he has got some serious acting chops. Plus he sports a mean beard. And putting him in the shoes of a disillusioned, now powerless “power” is one of the roles that he is going to slay. As much as it pains me to say this, Powers looks like it could go the distance and become something very good indeed.

Activision teases the masses with the Sierra brand.

Something wonderful has happened. Activision have teased the return of the Sierra brand. The tease came in the form of a short trailer that sees an unidentified adventurer break into a run towards a mountain which then transitions into the easily recognisable Sierra logo.

Chances are if you’re older than 20 years old you’ve witnessed the glorious adventure games brought to life by the fan renowned studio Sierra. They are perhaps most popular for there “Quest” series which includes Kings Quest and Space Quest. Both of which recently came back into the spotlight after a number of high profile YouTube Let’s Play’s played them.

Iconic point and click adventure games that raised a generation were the bread and butter of Sierra who brought gaming to many a young person, but they were also instrumental in making the genre defining shooter Counter Strike a global smash hit that is still played competitively to this very day. And lets not forget Half Life, they had their fingers in that pie too…and Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon and the list goes on.

Sony reveals its second enigmatic teaser trailer for Gamescom 2014

With the video gaming world and industry getting prepared for the arrival of the 2014 Gamescom Press Conference in Cologne Germany, the Sony consumer base is getting hyped over the unveiling of the second Sony Gamescom trailer.

Titled “It’s Coming”, the trailer features an axe being buried into a tree stump which then becomes bloody following a flair in the audio. Wind can be heard blowing and cracking ice that leaks more blood fills the screen. A short fade to black reveals the hashtag, “PlayStationGC” and the tagline, “IT’S COMING”.

What exactly the trailer is teasing, if anything, is not known but it’s likely to be something to do with the VR headset. What we do know is that Sony has some explaining to do regarding the current state of struggling handheld, the PS Vita.

With the amount of games currently in development and the ever approaching holiday season, it’s likely that we’re going to see footage of titles that are still in the works and possibly even some new announcements. With much of the video game industry calling Gamescom, the new E3, it’s hard to predict just what Sony will do this time.

Xbox One August 2014 Update Focuses On Social Elements.

Details regarding the Xbox One August 2014 Update have surfaced online thanks to YouTube user Arekkz Gaming posting a video on his channel detailing some of the new features included in the update.

The Xbox One August 2014 Update is currently only available to gamers that are in the preview program, but it will be made available to all Xbox One users later in the month, though no specific date has been given.

The August 2014 update seems to focus mostly on social interactions and player interaction, but it also brings a handful of highly requested features to the console.

When accessing the People app, you will notice that the Activity Feed has been changed into one single elongated column, this gives players access to a larger backlog of Activities that includes achievement unlocks, gameplay videos or even status updates.

Gamers can also Like and Share any activity that they are viewing on the Activity Feed, further emphasising the Xbox Ones social features. Shared activity can also be sent directly to specific people through the use of the Message system or shared directly to your friends Activity Feed. You can also comment on Activity to open up threads of conversation amongst you and your friends.

The August Update also enables video playback from within the Activity Feed which can also be commented on, liked and shared through the above mentioned methods.

The Upload app also now makes use of the Like and Share functions with users having the ability to like and share specific clips that are found therein. Further more, a Trending window is now visible which will show you trending content related to your most frequently searched items.

One of the more significant inclusions in the August Update is the ability to make purchases through your mobile devices. Xbox.com and Smartglass can now be used to purchase content for your games to enable downloads purchases made at a distance.

A highly requested feature, the Low Battery warning, has now been included. You’ll no longer find yourself caught out and surprised when your controller dies mid way through a crucial battle without receiving a warning!

There’s now an option to disable notifications when you’re watching video content, this means no more bothersome notifications when you’re trying to enjoy something.

And finally, perhaps the most useless part of the Update. 3D Blu Ray playback is now enabled. Because apparently, that’s still a thing.

Ponapticon real name unveiled

Today Sony has unveiled the official name for a previously teased game titled as Panopticon. However, with today’s reveal the game’s real title is Freedom Wars. Freedom Wars is exclusive for PlayStation Vita and will be coming out sometime next year.

Sony provided an interesting statement regarding the game’s genre as “Recovery multiplayer action,”. This can mean a lot of things so its hard to guess on what this exactly will be like.

Freedom Wars is set in a dystopian future, in the year 102013 of the PT Era, which is 100,000 years from now. The brand new trailer trailer jumps back-and-forth between current events and Freedom Wars’s future.

Judging by the game’s trailer its safe to say that multiplayer will be co-operative and you will be slaying giant monsters. This might be Sony’s answer to a new Monster Hunter type game. Meanwhile, we will have to wait and see how it turns out , since current gameplay details are scarce.
