Remember E3 2010 when Sony began their press conference with a 3D demo of Killzone 3? That was something amazing to see and weird in a lot of ways since the entire audience was asked to wear glasses. It indicated that Sony is going after 3D big time, and why wouldn’t they? They’re an electronics company after all, more sales of 3D related items equals to more revenue, and maybe some profit is Sony is lucky.

Sony UK boss Feral Gara has said that consumers are not hugely interested by 3D at this stage, but it’s something they have in their arsenal and it could probably pick up later.

“Consumers decide how relevant it is. It’s fair to say consumers have decided it’s not hugely important at this time. It’s a capability we’ve got. It may have a bigger life a little further down the line,” he told Eurogamer in an interview.

“It’s great we can do it. It doesn’t seem to be the most powerful USP at the moment, so you’ve seen us shift our effort onto fresh new exciting IP. I’m certainly really pleased to see the strength of that as we look into next year. We’ve seen a resurgence really with the strength of the output from the studio network.”

That can be attributed to the new story mode taking place during the Nine Tails’s attack on Konoha, arguably one of the most compelling stories in the series with the Third Hokage vs the Demon Fox and the Fourth taking on everyone’s favourite anonymous masked man.

CyberConnect2 has more interesting announcements though: Aside from a playable demo at the Japan Expo 2012 in Paris, this will be the first entrant in the Naruto series to be in 3D. So you know it’s still hip when even Naruto games are doing it.

Of course, this looks to be a straight-up conversion rather than boasting any 3D specific features. Nonetheless, it should be interesting to see how much more interactive the game becomes as a result.

Here is a new “Carnival” Trailer for The House of the Dead: OVERKILL – Extended Cut (PS3).  The trailer takes you to the creepy Mulholland Bros. Carnival where you will be able to use many different weapons in the game.  The park have everything from a shooting gallery to the House of Death but you will need to uncover the mystery behind the Bayou City outbreak. The House of the Dead: OVERKILL – Extended Cut will be available exclusively on PlayStation 3, and will support 3D capabilities on October 25, 2011.

Sony is going from College Campus to Campus crashing in do give you the ultimate 3D Gaming Experience.  They will arrive with 6 3D Gaming Kiosks with games to play in 3D like Uncharted 3 before it is even out and Resistance 3.  The will be showdowns, contests, prizes, food, music and much more as the Playstation Dorm Crashers Team rolls into a University near you!  Well only in the US.  It is not that easy though, you are going to want to tell Sony why you think they should come to your campus by going here to get them pumped to crash your campus from October 3rd to November 20th.

PS3 keeps surprising us all. With the recent 3D update by Sony, it has been proved that the PS3 is a top quality hardware, but it just gets better. PS3 can output 4k stills with a firmware update in 2012. That’s right, 4k. Which means? 4000*2000 resolution.

Since the PS3 is a 6 year old hardware, 4k is limited to stills and not videos or moving picture. But it’s nice to see the PS3 doing all this after so many years. It’s because of the CELL processor which is a very powerful CPU, especially when it comes video encoding.

PS3 owners will be glad to know that there is a big patch waiting for them when they boot the game today. The patch adds 3D support to the game. So if you have a 3DTV then rejoice.

It also adds ‘myPES’ an online social network for the franchise that is still in the beta stage. Konami has planned a lot of social features for the game including statistics tracking and a lot more.

Epic Games boss Mike Capps believes Gears of War 3 looks really good in 3D, despite it being a last decision to add the feature in the game, but the tech has “room for improvement” on the Xbox 360.

“”I think 3D was the very last thing we did,” Capps told CVG. “We’ve been playing with it for a long time and it added a lot of complexity and testing time. We didn’t think we’d make it, which was part of the reason we made a late announcement. But we got it working and we think it looks pretty good.

“I think there’s room for improvement in what the console supports in terms of 3D, but for folks who are looking for a stereo experience I think it’s really good.”
