Don't turn off the lights - 2018 and beyond are full of terrifying games.

Horror is one of the toughest genres to pull off, whether it’s in films, books or video games. Video games do have the advantage of giving players’ the agency to inflict horror upon themselves though. With the line-up coming in the next few years, it’s going to be a long bloody night for gamers indeed. Let’s take a look at 15 horror games releasing in 2018 and beyond (for PS4, Xbox One and PC).

Ad Infinitum

Sure, this may look like your average World War 1 title at first. But Ad Infinitum throws in some truly terrifying creatures that hunt you down. There’s nothing like ambling along in a trench at night while it’s raining only to encounter a large, slender, multi-legged beast with claws for days. We don’t know if there will be shooting but expect lots of puzzle solving and running for your dear life.

P.T. inspired adventure returns from the grave.

Lilith’s Allison Road, a project inspired by the Silent Hills demo P.T., has had a rather strange journey since first being announced. Originally launching on Kickstarter, it was picked up by Worms publisher Team17. The publishing deal eventually ran out for reasons unknown and Allison Road fell into obscurity.

Now the game is back and under a new studio called Far From Home led by creator Christian Kesler. Speaking to IGN, Kesler said that, “I’m actually really happy to be able to announce that [Allison Road] will continue. It did take a bit of soul searching to find the drive again to work on Allison Road and to simply make a call on what to do next.

“After the set back, I took a bit of a break from working on it and re-evaluated all the work that had been done so far — the whole journey, so to speak. I started making a few (in my opinion) necessary changes to the story and the flow, little bits and pieces here and there, and before I knew it, it sort of naturally came back to life.”

Currently, Kesler is working on the project alone if “new features and mechanics are required, or old ones need changing” then additional developers could be hired. What are your thoughts on Allison Road being resurrected? Let us know below.

In short: More of what we already don't know.

Lilith Ltd. shocked us last week – which wasn’t easy given the influx of E3 announcements – by revealing that its horror title Allison Road had been cancelled. It cited plans between publisher, in this case Team17, and developer being different but didn’t explicitly say why the game had been cancelled.

And according to publisher Team17 in response to VG247, “After a long consideration between Lilith owner Chris Kesler and ourselves, we have reached a mutual agreement to end our collaboration on publishing Allison Road under Team17’s Games label.

“We love the concept and value Chris talent highly, but sometime things pan out differently than expected as game development and publishing have so many layers of complexity. The whole team here wish all the best to Chris on his current and future projects for which, before being a business partner, we are also a fan.”

There hasn’t been much information provided so we’ll have to wait in the coming months (or years) to really learn more. What are your thoughts on Allison Road‘s cancellation? Let us know in the comments.

"Sometimes things pan out differently than expected."

Remember Allison Road, Lilith Ltd.’s P.T. inspired horror title that didn’t make it on Kickstarter and was subsequently picked up by Worms publisher Team17? The developer only recently announced that Allison Road would be cancelled and promised a full explanation for later.

That explanation has now come via Facebook and it doesn’t offer all that much information. “After a long consideration between Team17 and ourselves, we have reached a mutual agreement to end our collaboration on publishing Allison Road under Team17’s Games label.

“Sometime[s] things pan out differently than expected as game development and publishing have so many layers of complexity… We’d like to especially thank everyone for their support through-out, it has and will always be appreciated.”

Perhaps there was a disagreement in the game’s direction and overall quality? It’s not that uncommon in the games industry. Sometimes development cycles just don’t agree with both sides. Regardless, here’s hoping the staff at Lilith Ltd. continue to remain in the industry and perhaps pursue a new project.

The spiritual successor to P.T. has mimicked its demise as well.

Lilith Ltd.’s Allison Road, a spiritual successor to Konami’s P.T., has been cancelled.

The developer confirmed the news on Twitter when it stated that, “Hi all. Sadly Allison Road had to be cancelled. Statement to come in the next few days. Thanks for all your support and very sad it came to this.”

Allison Road has been the subject of trouble since the launch of its Kickstarter. After feeling to meet funding goals, Lilith Ltd. secured a publishing deal with Team 17 of Worms fame. The game was scheduled to release sometime this year but clearly something significant happened in the interim to prevent that.

In a way, it’s ironic when you consider that even P.T. aka Silent Hills was cancelled following Konami’s spat with director Hideo Kojima, who would leave the company and form his own independent studio in the process. What are your thoughts on Allison Road‘s cancellation? Let us know in the comments below.

Everything you need to know about Allison Road.

Allison Road is an upcoming survival horror game that was specifically inspired by the playable demo P.T. which was supposed to be a tease for Silent Hills. Not Long after P.T. was released by Konami, it was announced the game had been cancelled, mainly because the company was dissolving its relationship with game director Hideo Kojima. Developers at Lillith Ltd. decided what they had seen in that playable trailer was spooky enough that it deserved to be made and decided to put their own spin on the basic premise. Originally, the game was going to be funded through crowdfunding, but eventually publisher Team 17 decided to pony up the money in order to produce the title. Allison Road does not have an official release date but the game is said to be coming to the PS4, Xbox One and PC sometime in 2016.

In September of 2015, Lillith Ltd. announced it had decided to make a game that was at least somewhat based off of P.T. The company announced they were going to be put Allison Road through the crowdfunding site Kickstarter. On September 28, 2015, the company announced it was not only going to be shooting for making a game that w0uld be coming to the PC but also a version for both the Xbox One and the PS4 consoles.

On October 4, 2015 the company introduced a couple of rather grisly game art pics showing a woman who was bound and trussed up. Lillith announced the woman’s name was Hana and they wanted to include her in the game if the funding hit a certain level. On October 9, 2015 the company showed some pictures of what people can expect if they are able to get outside the house, which makes up the beginning of Allison Road. Like P.T. a majority of the game is geared towards moving around an empty house, but there are also things to be found outside. The photos of the kinds of things people will see when they exit was shown off for backers.

On October 12, 2015 the development team announced it was officially pulling its Kickstarter campaign in order to “commit 100% to an opportunity that will give us the chance as a team to create the best game possible.” There was the announcement that Lillith had actually managed to forge a partnership with Team 17, which had agreed to pony up the money to produce the game. The final update on Kickstarter was an announcement of several people who had been playing a series of puzzle games with the company and would have their names officially included in the game.

In addition to Kickstarter updates and the release of concept art and screenshots, the company released a 13 minute long pre-alpha video to show off what their game would look like. The company also announced the title is being built on the Unreal Engine 4. While the game has only been officially announced as coming to the PC, PS4 and Xbox One the developers have also said they are working with an Oculus Rift Dev Kit in order to bring optional Oculus Rift support.

Story

Players take on the role of an unnamed protagonist who wakes up all of sudden without any knowledge of what actually happened in the past. The main objective of the game is not only to find your family but also find the secrets behind the mysterious house and face off against Lily, the player’s nightmare.

Gameplay

The developer has said that most of the game will take place inside the British town house where the player’s character lives. The character will walk around the house, trying to find clues as to where your family has gone. The gameplay video shows that there are going to be any number of different things you will be able to pick up and examine as you go on the search. At various points throughout the game, a seemingly evil character will appear and the tone and appearance of the house will change. It’s not clear if there will be any kind of combat included but it appears the point will be to escape this evil rather than doing battle with it.

At some point, players will also be able to go outside the house, apparently able to check around the main setting in order to find more clues. All of this takes place in a first person point of view.

Characters

Hana is a character that has been mentioned by the company that they would “like” to bring to the game. She was mentioned as someone that would have to be included if the company reached a certain level on Kickstarter. She appears to be a villain, or at least a tortured soul. The company has not said whether or not she is definitely making it into the game now that they’ve gotten funding from Team 17. The family that the main character is looking for is mentioned in the game but has not make an appearance in the title. The development team has mentioned a character named Lili who appears to be the main villain in the game.

Note: This wiki will be updated once we have more information about the game

The promising looking horror game, Allison Road, has had its Kickstarter cancelled. Any other time, this would be cause for sadness, as we contemplated how good looking game ideas often fail to make it to the market. Not this time, however- this time, this is news for celebration. The reason that the game has been cancelled is because Team17 has picked it up, and will now be publishing it. This assures the development team that the game will have the best resources possible, and that its ambition will go uninhibited.

“We have decided to withdraw the Kickstarter campaign to allow us to commit 100% to an opportunity that will give us the chance as a team to create the best game possible,” the development team said.

“As a newly founded studio, we’ve been completely overwhelmed by your encouragement and huge interest in Allison Road and we’d love to thank each and every one of you for all of the amazing support you have given us during our Kickstarter campaign and beyond. Really incredibly appreciated.”

That said, they followed that up with: “We are delighted to announce that we will be joining Team17’s highly successful games label.”

They also pre-empted many concerns that people might have about what the move to a publisher might mean for the integrity of the team’s original vision.

“Working with Team17 will give us the chance to make our game unhindered creatively, but at the same time will give us the resources, support and experience that only a 25 year old studio can give,” they said, also adding that they will be looking at bringing the community and involving them in the development process some time in the future.

Will Allison Road actually be good enough to warrant this kind of confidence in it? Who knows? We will find out once it releases.

The P.T.-esque horror title is finally available for crowd-funding.

Psychological horror title Allison Road is finally on Kickstarter. The funding goal is set at £250,000 and thus far, things are off to a good start. As of this time of writing, 1333 backers have funded £46,764 of the goal with 29 days remaining.

Allison Road is intriguing in this post-P.T. world. As a sort of mash-up between the former Silent Hills and indie adventure title Gone Home, Allison Road offers survival horror mixed with exploration and mystery. From the demos we’ve thus far, there’s not a whole lot of information on what’s going on. But evil is afoot and that usually isn’t a good thing, even though Allison Road looks great.

Those who want to donate can head to Kickstarter right now to do the same. Reward tiers fall between £5 to £5,000 so go crazy with the funding. Let us know in the comments what you think of Allison Road and stay tuned for more information on its Kickstarter in the coming weeks.

Looks quite fantastic.

The Silent Hills P.T. demo was scary, and it made us jump off our seats due to its amazing environments and not to mentioned the horrendous Lisa. Sadly however the game was scrapped, leaving many disappointed. However there is some ray of good news as a group of indie developers are working on Allison Road, a game that is heavily inspired by PT.

The video shows a 13 minute demo, and in all honesty it looks really fantastic and I would go so far as to say it looks better than the original. Everything you see in the demo is actual gameplay. The life-like visuals are quite mind-blowing and it makes you just wish that the full game would just come out soon and make us all happy campers.

The game is being developed by small team of six and although this real gameplay it’s not what you’ll see in the full version of the game. The developer also clarified that some of the assets are just stand-ins and the final version have updates ones.
