AMD have released a new driver update for its graphics cards today. The release notes say the AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.4.1 driver fixes crashing and application hang up when MSAA is enabled in World of Warcraft. It also resolves issues in World of Tanks, where intermittent graphical corruption occurred when game settings are set to minimum on Radeon RX Vega series graphics products, which could prevent Radeon WattMan’s auto overclock to raise engine clocks past default levels on Radeon RX Vega series graphics products.

Another issues that has been fixed was one that could make the mouse cursors move out of the top of the displays, or to disappear completely on AMD Ryzen Mobile Processors with Radeon Vega Graphics. Another issue, which saw Radeon WattMan auto overclock sometimes not functioning as intended, has also been addressed.

You can download the driver now, can take a look at the full changelog below.

Fixed Issues

AMD Radeon VII and Radeon RX Vega Series graphics products may experience system instability, or an intermittent system hang when three or more displays are connected and enabled at the same time.

World of Warcraft™ patch 8.1.5 or later may experience an intermittent crash or application hang when MSAA is enabled.

Mouse cursors may disappear or move out of the boundary of the top of a display on AMD Ryzen Mobile Processors with Radeon Vega Graphics.

Radeon WattMan auto overclock may fail to raise engine clocks past default levels on Radeon RX Vega series graphics products.

Vari-Bright changes may fail to apply on some AMD Ryzen™ Mobile Processors with Radeon™ Vega Graphics system configurations.

World of Tanks™ may experience intermittent graphical corruption when game settings are set to minimum on Radeon RX Vega series graphics products.

Known Issues

AMD Radeon VII may experience screen flicker in multi display setups on desktop or while applications are running.

Netflix™ Windows® Store application may experience display flicker during video playback on some HDR enabled displays.

Performance metrics overlay and Radeon WattMan gauges may experience inaccurate fluctuating readings on AMD Radeon VII.

Performance metrics overlay may experience intermittent flicker when playing back protected content with this feature enabled.

AMD fires a big shot in the GPU wars.

The latest and greatest PC titles like Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition and Sea of Thieves can demand a lot from your rig. And the latest drivers from AMD, Adrenaline Edition 18.3.1 is now available to make sure you can squeeze everything you can from your PC.

The new drivers bring with them Project ReSX, otherwise known as the Radeon eSports Experience. The project delivers lots of performance improvements to titles like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Overwatch and DOTA 2, but also gives games a more fluid and responsive feel, improving frame time as much as 9% in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

These kinds of enhancements should only become more prevalent as AMD optimizes more titles. The PC that these enhancements were tested on was from an 8GB Radeon RX580 GPU, Intel 7700k CPU and 16GB DDR4-3000Mhz RAM and Windows 10 64-bit. It remains to be seen whether NVIDIA answers back in the near future.

AMD showcased a wide range of new hardware at Computex 2016.

AMD’s showing at Computex 2016 was very interesting, to say the least. The hotly anticipated Polaris architecture—Team Red’s response to Nvidia’s next-gen Pascal line—made its debut with the RX 480, a $199 part that promises better performance than a GTX 970 at a substantially lower price-point. While Nvidia’s GTX 1070, set to release on June 10th, is certainly a great proposition for 4K gaming, statistically, 1080p remains the most popular resolution to game at.

Circa-970 levels of performance means that the RX 480 will be able to push 1080p/60 at Ultra settings in modern titles, an unheard of level of performance in the $200 price-bracket. Interestingly, the RX 480 makes use of the Polaris 10 GPU which will supposedly be featured in the PS4 Neo. AMD also briefly demoed its next-gen “Summit Ridge” processor, on the next-gen Zen architecture. Zen is set to feature a 40 percent leap in IPC (instructions per clock) over Piledriver, meaning that Zen-based CPUs may become a viable alternative to an Intel i5 or i7 for gaming, especially if the price is right.

Also showcased was a complete refresh of AMD’s A-series APU line. AMD’s value-oriented 7th gen A-series APUs pair entry-level Excavator cores with an on-chip Radeon graphics component.

PC Gaming may be taking a real leap forward if this turns out to be true.

A source said to have “knowledge” regarding an “unspoken API”, which is assumed to be DirectX 12, has spoken to Tom’s Hardware about the potential capacity for PC gaming that utilises GPU’s from both Nvidia GeForce and AMD Radeon.

Expected to launch alongside the upcoming Windows 10 operating system, DirectX 12 looks as though it may be leading the charge in the combo GPU field allowing users to make use of platform specific features such as AMD’s TrueAudio and FreeSync and Nvidia’s GeForce Experience software and 3D Vision. While this has strong merits for gaming on the PC, development for the optimization and distribution of these graphics resources is left up to developers. This means that the option is available should the developer wish to utilize it.

Whether or not the aforementioned “unspoken API” is in fact DirectX 12 is still in question, but given that it’s expected to be on the way and there’s been a lot of chatter about it’s gaming prowess, it’s a safe assumption to make. Still, you should take this with a grain of salt.
