AMD today announced the AMD Raedon Pro Duo GPU, which seems to be the long expected Radeon R9 Fury X2 graphics card. The GPU will have two Furcy class Fiji GPUs on board, and is being billed by AMD as the ultimate GPU for virtual reality enthusiasts, letting users create and consume VR content with ease.

The Radeon Pro Duo is capable of 16 TFLOPS of computing performance, according to AMD, and it is optimized for AMD’s LiquidVR technology. AMD is partnering with Crytek and their VR First initiative, and any new labs will be equipped with Radeon Pro Duos under this arrangement.

If you’re planning to hop all on board the VR train, however, this card will not be cheap- it’ll set you back by a pretty penny. AMD currently lists it for a flabbergasting $1499, which is more than two Radeon R9 Fury X cards would be- in fact, buying two of those and running them in Crossfire might just be a cheaper solution for you if you aren’t big into VR, and aren’t planning on being big on VR any time soon either.

If you do want VR, however, this card might be well worth a look.
