The two stealth franchises will allegedly get some VR entries.

We’ve been waiting for the return of Sam Fisher for a good while, and it seems like we’re constantly getting teased with it to just come up short. Well, a new report claims that a new Splinter Cell is coming, alongside a brand new Assassin’s Creed, in an unexpected way.

According to a report by The Information, Mark Zuckerberg himself is pushing to have more exclusives to the Oculus VR storefront (Facebook owns Oculus, if you weren’t aware), and that’s resulted in some new exclusives for the Oculus from both of those legendary stealth franchises. Whether those will be completely original titles, older titles retrofitted into VR or VR modes for upcoming titles isn’t clarified.

We’re filing this under rumor for now due to the, as of now, unverified source of the information. It’s not completely outside the realm of possibility when you consider the scope and wealth of Facebook, so maybe Sam Fisher will finally show himself again soon.

New gameplay raises the hype for upcoming open world game.

I love Assassin’s Creed, but even I’ve been a bit wary of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. For one, I feel that Assassin’s Creed is one series that probably should not be annual; for another, I felt like while the pirate and naval gameplay in Assassin’s Creed III was excellent, it was probably not enough to sustain a full length game all by itself.

Over time, Ubisoft has done much to allay my fears, and now with this latest video showing off never before gameplay for the upcoming titles, I can feel vestiges of that old, familiar excitement that I used to feel every time a new Assassin’s Creed game was announced.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag hits the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Xbox One, Playstation 4, Wii U, and PC later this year. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for further coverage of the game as we near its release, including, of course, our review.

Ubisoft, the developer behind such massive franchises as Assassin’s Creed, Tom Clancy’ Ghost Recon and Might & Magic, has launched a new limited edition merchandise based on their popular series: A hand crafted, highly detailed Ezio figure has been produced in a limited edition of 2000, a figurine of Might & Magic VI’s Archangel has been produced in an edition of 500 and, from Ghost Recon, a limited batch of ‘production team’ shirts, with the same design as those worn by the development team during this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, have been made available. UbiCollectibles are available exclusively through UbiShop, Ubisoft’s official online store, and the store is now accepting pre-orders from European customers.
