Guerrilla Games' latest open world title is just behind Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales in launch sales and dethrones Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Several big games released worldwide last week but to no one’s surprise, Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Forbidden West took the top spot in UK physical sales as per Gfk. As per GamesIndustry, it was also the second biggest PS5 launch in the territory thus far with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales being on top. Of the total sales, 68 percent were on PS5.

Though launch sales were down 35 percent compared to its predecessor, they don’t account for digital downloads. The fact that PS5 consoles are less widely available than the PS4 (which had been available for over three years when Zero Dawn launched) could also be a factor. Other noteworthy titles this week include Pokemon Legends: Arceus, which fell to second place with sales dropping 52 percent week-on-week.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human also dropped to third place as a result while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was steady at fourth. Among the new releases in the past week was Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection, which entered 21st place following the Nintendo Switch version’s release, and The King of Fighters 15 which debuted in 30th place. Cyberpunk 2077 also re-entered the charts at 23rd place following update 1.5 which added PS5 and Xbox Series X/S support – sales rose by 271 percent week-on-week in the process.

Check out the Gfk’s top ten best-selling titles for the week ending February 19th below.

Assassin's Creed 2, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, and Assassin's Creed Revelations are now playable on the Nintendo Switch.

The Nintendo Switch has been an outlet for Ubisoft to revisit older Assassin’s Creed games over the last few years, with several entries from the series’ older era having been ported to the Switch, including the likes of Assassin’s Creed 3, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, and Assassin’s Creed Rogue. Now, we have more to add to that list.

Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection was announced for the Nintendo Switch last month, following rumours about the same. Now, that collection is out, bringing Assassin’s Creed 2, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed Revelations to the Nintendo hybrid platform (which means Switch owners now have access to arguably the three best games in the series). Check out its launch trailer below.

Meanwhile, in other Assassin’s Creed news, Valhalla expansion Dawn of Ragnarok is releasing next month, while recent leaks have claimed that a smaller, stealth-focused standalone entry in the series is also planned for either later this year or early next year.

The remastered trilogy, containing Assassin's Creed 2, Brotherhood, and Revelations, has been announced for the Switch.

Back in December, leaks claimed that Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection would soon be making its way to the Nintendo Switch, following in the footsteps of Assassin’s Creed: The Rebel Collection, which brought Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Rogue to the Switch in 2019. Now, that has been officially announced.

Ubisoft has announced Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection for the Nintendo Switch, along with a release date that’s just a little over a month away- February 17. The remastered collection includes the single player campaigns of Assassin’s Creed 2, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed Revelations, along with all single player DLC for the three games. Two short films “that dive even deeper into Ezio’s story” – Assassin’s Creed Lineage and Assassin’s Creed Embers – are also included in the collection. As some of the best games in the series (and the best protagonist), they make for quite a good package together.

Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection first launched for PS4 and Xbox One in 2016.

A head to head comparison between PS4, PS3 and PC versions of the Ezio trilogy.

Ezio De Auditore is back, although in remastered form, for the PS4 and Xbox One. Assassins Creed The Ezio Collection features three of the best games in the entire series which includes Assassin’s Creed 2, Brotherhood and Revelations. Each of these titles was released at least five years ago and for their time, they were technical marvels given their scale and ambition.

We recently got our hands on the PS4 version of the game and decided to compare the Pro SKU against the PS3 and PC platforms. First up is Assassin’s Creed 2. It shows remarkable improvements in terms of frame rate performance. In a particular chase sequence one can clearly see frame rate issues on the PS3 however the PS4 Pro version showed no signs of slow down resulting in a far better experience. The texture work and draw distance has also undergone major improvements resulting into a crisper image quality compared to sub-HD resolution on the PS3. Unfortunately motion capture wasn’t really at its peak back in 2009 which means the remaster also has animations that will look out of place according to today’s standards.

On the other hand Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood shows major improvements in texture filtering and lighting. The remastered version has been amped up to support enhanced post processing effects, improved level of detail and much better shadow quality. Character models look much sharper and overall it looks better than the PC version. The jump to a 1080p resolution really sets Brotherhood apart from its last gen counter-part.

And lastly we have Assassin’s Creed Revelations which shows appreciable level of improvements in lighting and image quality, but overall the amount of remastering here is pretty limited. This is perhaps down to the fact that by the time Revelations was being developed Ubisoft had already made some serious advancements in their rendering technology which were them modified and used in Assassin’s Creed 3.

So overall this is a pretty decent remastering effort by Ubisoft. Of course this is no where close to what we have seen in recent remakes and remasters, but the amount of improvements on offer is definitely noticeable.

Despite first week sales down by 50 percent from last year’s Black Ops 3, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has staved off tough competition to secure a third week on top of the UK all-formats sales charts according to Gfk Chart-Track. That’s despite sales being down by 46 percent this week.

This week, it managed to deflect the debuting Watch Dogs 2 which released in second place. Sales for the sequel aren’t too hot – as per MCV, sales are down by 80 percent from the original. Meanwhile, FIFA 17 rose to third place in the charts while Battlefield 1 rose to fourth place. WWE 2K17 witnessed a 173 percent increase in sales thanks to retailer discounts.

Forza Horizon 3 is in sixth place followed by Dishonored 2 (with sales down 52 percent week on week) and The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition. Grand Theft Auto 5 is in ninth place and the only other new debut is Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection in tenth place.

What are your thoughts on some of the bigger name releases under-performing in the UK? Let us know in the comments below.

Day one patch adds PS4 Pro enhancements to the game.

Ubisoft’s just released Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection will be supporting the PS4 Pro- a new day one patch has been released for the collection, which adds support for Sony’s new enhanced PS4 console. The collection now supports 4K dynamic rendering on the PS4 Pro.

4K enhancements are not all that this patch will be bringing with it to the table, either- it’s an Assassin’s Creed release, which means it probably has a whole lot of bugs and glitches. Ubisoft just seem to be pre-emptively addressing a lot of them beforehand this time around.

You can check out the full patch notes for the game below. Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection is available on PS4 and Xbox One now.

4K dynamic rendering support for PS4 Pro;

Fixed an issue where the application gets stuck if user accesses Ubisoft Club when there is no free space available;

Fixed an issue where the user is unable to access Ubisoft Club from episode selection screen after suspending the application and causing network error;

Fixed an issue where save data becomes damaged and cannot be loaded when the user quits the application immediately after the save is created;

Fixed an issue where the user remains stuck in the saving screen after accepting the message that the user has to wait for the content to finish downloading;

Fixed an issue of infinite loading when booting game after certain steps in Assassin’s Creed 2;

Fixed miscellaneous crashes in Assassin’s Creed: Revelations Lost Archive;

Fixed an issue where the smoke bomb can be seen through textures in Assassin’s Creed: Revelations;

Fixed an issue where using the smoke bomb causes flickering textures on buildings in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood;

Fixed an issue where some grass will disappear for one second when players get close in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood;

Fixed an issue where surroundings in Desmond’s Journey changed into pure color and become corrupted when getting into Desmond’s Journey-Part 1 in Assassin’s Creed: Revelations;

Fixed an issue where some map locations have placeholder text in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.

The best Assassin's Creed games may be coming to a PS4 and Xbox One near you.

Earlier this year, Ubisoft promised that after a few years of increasingly misguided games in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed would be taking a break this year- no new title in the series would be released in 2016. To their credit, they have stuck to their word, and no new Assassin’s Creed game is announced for release this Fall.

But they wouldn’t be Ubisoft if there wasn’t at least one retail release of Assassin’s Creed this year- and they’ve already promised no new game for this year. What are they to do, then? Why, release an Assassin’s Creed remaster collection, of course!

Assassin’s Creed: Ezio Collection has appeared on the Korean Ratings Board,which is already a good sign that it’s nearing release. Corroborating these rumors is French publication Gameblog (via GameSpot), who have posted promotional material and multiple details about the still-unconfirmed collection, including the games it will include – Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed Revelation – as well as the fact that it will run at 1080p and 30fps. In addition to these three games, it will also have all of the three games’ DLC, and animated movies Assassin’s Creed: Lineage and Assassin’s Creed: Embers, making this ridiculously good value..

As of right now, it’s not been officially confirmed yet, so we can’t tell you much more, or when it will be out- the rumors peg it as a full priced $60 collection launching this November for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
