The trailer for Total War: Attila was pretty damn awesome, and instantly managed to get everybody pumped for the next installment in The Creative Assembly’s flagship Total War franchise. It looked incredibly great as well, and if you were wondering who’s responsible for it looking as crazily good as it does, then you have Dimensional Imaging and Realtime UK to thank for it, as they both worked on it.

Tony Prosser, RealtimeUK’s Managing Director said, “The Attila Total War announcement trailer really focuses on the facial performance of the Atilla character we developed. It was therefore essential that we obtained the highest quality of facial performance capture available. Dimensional Imaging were the obvious choice.Having worked with them previously,we already knew that their DI4D PRO System provides the highestfidelity data available without impacting on the actor’s ability to perform.”

Colin Urquhart, Dimensional Imaging’s CEO added, “We were delighted to be involved in a project of this calibre with RealtimeUK. We knew the quality of production they were looking for and were confident that our 4D system and software could deliver the high fidelity facial animation required.”

Total War: Attila launches next year.

Slated for a 2015 release date.

If you’re a fan of the Total War games, and if you were afraid that Alien: Isolation signaled the start of a trend that developers Creative Assembly might be moving away from those games and branching out into other stuff, well, I have some good news for you- today, they announced Total War: Attila during their session at EGX 2014 in London.

Attila will follow the historical figure, and his one million horsemen. Given that description, it’s easy to see how he is a good fit for Total War, which has always emphasized large scale historical battles. It is a game that, in The Creative Assembly’s words, is being designed for veterans of the series, and it promises to bring new things to the table.

For example, disease:

“Diseases were a key feature of the period,” said communications manager Al Bickham. “We’ve decoupled the squalor/sanitation balance that we had in Rome 2 from public order. It’s now directly related to the health of your city. If you don’t keep a city clean, it may suffer disease.”

Total War: Attila is due for release some time in 2015, exclusively for PC.
