Just Cause 3 is one of those games that is not only slated to be pretty good, but also has a very strong fanbase that have been with the game series since the very beginning. Just how much the fans of the series love this game is about to be proven, with the announcement that Square Enix has put together a Collector’s Edition that will be available about a month after the game hits store shelves.

The regular version of Just Cause 3 is due to launch on December 1 and the Collector’s Edition is due to be released on January 12th of next year. Square Enix has announced that along with the day one edition of the game, there will be a ton of different collectibles and in-game content. At the center of the collectibles is a replica version of Rico’s (the star protagonist of the series) beloved grappling hook.

Obviously, the grappling hook isn’t going to let you scale buildings but it does sit at 15″ so you can proudly display it in your rec room and maybe even fool your friends. Along with the grappling hook, you will get a 24-inch by 24-inch poster that doubles as a map of the Mediterranean archipelago of Medici and a 32-page hardcover art book. In game content that comes with the collector’s edition is a weaponized vehicle pack that can be unlocked and downloaded in order to create even more havoc inside the game. Just Cause 3 will be available on the PC, Xbox One and PS4 on December 1 and the Collector’s Edition will be out on January 12 2016.

PlayStation’s official YouTube channel has released a new interview with Avalanche Games to talk about the upcoming open world vehicular combat title Mad Max. Along with some new details, we get a look at some gameplay footage showcasing the car combat, melee fighting and general visual style of the Wasteland.

Mad Max starts with the titular character losing his iconic Interceptor and having to get it back. In the process, he’ll discover a new vehicle called the Magnum Opus that must be built from the ground up. In the gameplay footage, Max can be seen discovering a new body for the car and modifying it with a different paint job.

Avalanche has assured that each player’s Magnum Opus will express their play-style and the choices made in the world with the hope that one will be exploring it for many, many hours.

Mad Max releases on September 1st in North America and September 4th in Europe for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Avalanche Studios took the stage during Square Enix’s E3 2015 conference to showcase Just Cause 3, the next iteration of the open world chaos simulator. The scale of the game was revealed in the latest trailer and Avalanche seeks to set a new benchmark for action and destruction.

There are a ton of new features this time around, including the Wingsuit which stabilizes one’s parachute; multiple grapple lines to the grappling hook in order to link various explosions and objects together; and much more. The game world will occupy 400 square miles which looks as huge as it sounds. You’ll be able to explore the entire world and destroy it as you see fit.

Just Cause 3 releases on December 1st for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. What are your thoughts on the new gameplay trailer and the game’s release date? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information from Square Enix’s E3 conference.

Avalanche Studios founder Christofer Sundberg talks about AAA development.

Avalanche Studios founder and creative director Christofer Sundberg recently spoke to GameSpot about today’s AAA development scene. The Just Cause creator, who is now working on Mad Max for current and next gen platforms, believed that the environment for such developer is “really not healthy at the moment,”

“Games have evolved, technology has evolved but as businesses we’re still stuck where we were 15 years ago. As budgets grow, risks increase.

“The publishers are nervous because they have to project a game being a massive hit three years into the future and the developers are frustrated because they need to be flexible to every move the publishers make. It’s impossible to make everyone happy in the current equation.”

As it stands though, not many AAA titles end up profitable. “Very few traditional $60 games make any money, and what used to make sense doesn’t any more. Publishers and developers very rarely see a return of investment from a 5-8 hour long game.”

As for early sales numbers for the PS4 and Xbox One, Sundberg was happy – since Mad Max is coming to both consoles – but stated that, “It’s a bit early for me to feel comfortable though. The investments in a AAA game these days are huge and even if everyone of those two million people bought a copy each, most big games would not break even if they were next-gen exclusives.”

However, Sundberg believes that publishers are working hard to come up with more than just your typical experience. “I hope and think we will see improvements over time,” he stated, and added that he was “really excited” about upcoming titles like TitanFall and Destiny.

What are your thoughts on Sundberg’s views? Let us know in the comments.

Also, Max beats up bandits. Good for you, Max.

Avalanche Studios took the world by storm by announcing Mad Max, based on the popular post-apocalyptic film franchise, for current and next generation consoles To set up the game’s story, a new motion comic from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment has been released which looks at how the mechanic Chumbucket meets Max himself.

Mad Max Motion Comic Part 1 was released earlier and featured the talents of Tom Taylor, who also wrote Injustice and Jason Shawn Alexander (Legends of the Dark Knight). The duo return with part 2 as the bandits of the Wasteland take on Max in combat.

Max Max the video game will be an open-world title but focused on vehicular combat. Since the Wasteland favours those with wheels, it stands to reason that your car is your lifeblood. You’ll be able to outfit it with weapons and take the fight to the bandits in 2014 when the game releases for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PC.
