Rise of the Tomb Raider‘s first major story DLC Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch will be releasing on January 26th. It’s not currently known if the DLC will be available for the PC version when it launches on January 28th but one can certainly hope.

Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch will see Lara Croft investigating a significantly more haunting tomb than her past endeavours since the reboot. Crystal Dynamics has promised an “hours long” adventure with the DLC but will it measure up to the quality of the main adventure?

The Baba Yaga DLC is included in the Season Pass for the game which costs $29.99 on Xbox One. It also includes Endurance Mode and the upcoming Cold Darkness Awakened. More information was revealed about Crystal Dynamics’ Rise of the Tomb Raider DLC, namely Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch. As part of the $30 Season Pass, the Baba Yaga DLC will see Lara entering a “forbidden forest” in Siberia called the Wicked Vale to locate a missing person.

Whether the witch Baba Yaga is actually occupying the forest or not, the developer has promised a “showdown with an ancient and mythic evil.”

It should be noted that The Temple of the Witch will be out in January 2016 and features “hours” of gameplay for fans. There will be another expansion called The Cold Darkness Awakened along with Endurance Mode, not to mention new weapon skins and outfits for players to try out so there’s certainly a good amount of mileage to be had from Rise of the Tomb Raider.

After Far Cry Primal, you can add one more high profile premiere to The Game Awards this Thursday with the Rise of the Tomb Raider DLC Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch. Rise of the Tomb Raider has seen some rather middling success since its launch. Having released so close to Fallout 4, it had a tough time garnering attention from consumers despite strong critical praise. As it stands, both Microsoft and Square Enix are happy with the game’s performance so we’ll see what this means for the franchise down the line.
