Banpresto and Monolith Soft have announced that gamers can get in on the crossover action with the new Project X Zone demo now available on the Nintendo eShop for the 3DS handheld. As a crossover title featuring several well known characters from the Namco Bandai, SEGA and Capcom universes, Project X Zone will be officially releasing on July 5th.

The demo will feature characters from Sakura Wars, Cyberbots, Space Channel 5 and Valkyria Chronicles, along with Sakura Wars’ Imperial Theatre level. Interestingly enough, there will be a second demo on June 27th featuring Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins.

Project X Zone functions like a normal isometric RPG when exploring the world map but enters into a 2D fighting like perspective, wherein you can deal team attacks and special moves against opponents. Among other franchises, there will be characters from Street Fighter, Tekken, XenoSaga, Devil May Cry, Mega Man X, Resident Evil and much more.

Watch classic characters meet the tar out of hapless enemies.

The first English trailer for the upcoming crossover fighting game/RPG hybrid Project X Zone has been revealed following the announcement of the game releasing in North America and Europe for Nintendo 3DS.

Each major brand – Capcom, Sega and Namco Bandai – gets equal precedence in the trailer, whose main focus is showing off the team-up attacks and how different character combinations work together. Whether it’s seeing X and Zero tear into an enemy with the X Buster and Z Saber or Chun Li and Morrigan executing their classic combos, there’s plenty of fan service on offer.

And that’s even before we get to the super attacks, which are just phenomenal.

It may not be for everyone but Project X Zone will definitely appeal to those who’ve always wanted to see their favourite characters all in the same game. Project X Zone releases on June 25th in North America and July 5th in Europe.

Get ready for some crossover madness this Summer.

Namco Bandai has officially announced that Project X Zone, the crossover featuring a dizzying number (well, actually 50) of characters from Capcom, Sega and Namco Bandai franchises will be releasing on the Nintnedo 3DS in North America on June 25th.

Featuring well known characters like Dante and Lady from Devil May Cry, X and Zero from Mega Man X, Jin and Ling from Tekken, Kite and Black Rose from dotHack and many more, Project X Zone is a tactical RPG hybrid. This is because battles take place from a side-scrolling, fighting game perspective wherein you and two other team members annihilate enemies.

Team-up attacks, combos and chain attacks are a common occurrence in Project X Zone. And apparently there’s a story about a rift in space-time causing all these universes to merge together, but who cares?

Check it out when it releases this Summer in North America, if you even have a passing interesting in seeing Zero team up with KOS-MOS.

Christmas has come early, boys and girls.

In the words of Daniel Bryan: Yes! Yes! Yes!

Though it seemed impossible that we’d see another crossover on the scale of Project X Zone, a fighting game/RPG hybrid developed by Banpresto and Monolith Soft for the Nintendo 3DS, it seems Namco Bandai UK has allayed those fears via Twitter by announcing the game’s release for Europe and North America this Summer.

That’s right: We’re finally going to be able to go at it with Namco Bandai, Capcom and Sega characters in arguably the biggest crossover since…since forever, actually.

Project X Zone features over 200 characters from legendary franchises like Darkstalkers, Virtua Fighter, Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, Mega Man, Xenosaga, Tekken and many more. It was released in Japan on October 11th 2012 and immediately generated fervor due to the sheer amount of characters it featured.

Usually crossovers don’t see much exposure outside of Japan, due to rights issues, but Project X Zone is just too good to ignore.

Were you worried that your favourite female characters were being under-represented in today’s games? Well, that’s still very much the case, but not for Namco Bandai’s upcoming tactical role playing opus, Project X Zone.

Culling characters from famous Sega, Namco Bandai and Capcom franchises, the project has already created a buzz with it’s gameplay and star-studded fights.

And it doesn’t hurt that the ensemble cast only grows. Lady, the human demon hunter from Devil May Cry (who first appeared in Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening) has been confirmed for the game, along with first unit leader Lindow from God Eater. Granted, there’s already an abundance of characters from both franchises but the more the merrier.

Developed by Banpresto and Monolith Soft, Project X Zone may not see release outside of Japan, it’s still an ambitious undertaking that promises some wicked fun. It’s currently set for release on October 11th.

It’s impossible to not mark out when watching the new trailer for Project X Zone, the new tactical RPG from Banpresto/Monolith Soft.

Honestly, if seeing Ryu from Street Fighter hanging with Virtua Fighter and Tekken characters doesn’t get you excited, nothing will.

The trailer showcases some of the story (though it’s all in Japanese), and a lot of the gameplay. You navigate the worlds in typical tile-based fashion, with combat akin to a 2D fighting game. And for 2D sprites set against 3D environments, the game looks great.

If the above image doesn’t make you excited for Project X Zone from Banpresto/Namco Bandai, nothing will. Except maybe a smattering of new images and gameplay details from Famitsu!

The Solo Units have finally been explained. Similar to Marvel vs. Capcom 3, you can hit the L button on the 3DS for a singular attack by a Solo Unit. If you fancy punishing your opponent that extra bit more, however, you can also tag in all 5 party characters for an all-out attack. Project X Zone relies not only on timing but placement – if you have a Pair Unit inflicting damage, and can spot your other pair, call ’em in with R. Then tag in your Solo Unit with L and go to town.

New screenshots show original characters Kogoro Tenzia and Mii Kouryuuji plus so much more.

Project X Zone is another tactical role-playing game in Namco’s “Cross” series. It will release on the Nintendo 3DS and feature over 200 iconic characters from Namco, Sega and Capcom.
