While the upcoming Gotham Knights will not share the same continuity with the Arkham titles from Rocksteady, those older Batman titles are still quite beloved by fans. Now that we know that Gotham Knights won’t be making 2021, some may even want to go back and revisit those classic brawlers. If you’re doing so with a PS5 and happen to land on Arkham City, well, there is good news for you.

Out of seemingly nowhere, a new update was released for Arkham City on PS4, which was released as part of the remastered Arkham Collection for the system. It simply states that it was for PS5 combability. Apparently there was a bug that forced the game to render at a lower resolution than the PS4 and PS4 Pro, making it sub-1080p on the new system. Now, though, it seems that’s been fixed if you want to revisit it.

Batman: Arkham City is available for PS4 and Xbox One as part of the Arkham Collection, as well as individually on PC. Update 1.03, that addresses the PS5 issue, is live now. Rocksteady will not be continuing the Arkham franchise, but is currently working on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which is currently slated for release in 2022.

Even in the mad, multi-canon world of graphics novels, that’ll evidently set the game prior to either of the Arkham games.

Also within the same period was the foundation of the Justice League, which when combined with Warner Bros. desire to pack more heroes into AAA titles, suggests Batman won’t be the only hero in Gotham.

Batman: Arkham City sold 2 million units worldwide in its first week alone and went on to sell over 6 million inside a month. Batman: Arkham Asylum sold comparatively less, clocking up 4.3 million overall, which is still an impressive figure.

The new title is expected to release in 2014 at the very earliest.

Warner Bros have confirmed that the Arkham City Skins Pack is available now in the Xbox LIVE for 400 Microsoft Points and for Games for Windows for £3.99. The pack is also available in the UK on the PlayStation Network for £3.99.

Rocksteady’s Dax Ginn told GameTrailers at PAX that once you finish Arkham City, you will unlock a “New Game +” mode, in which you can play the entire game with your old gadgets and upgrades and whatnots.

“When you finish the main story mode, you can then restart that with all of the gadgets and all of the upgrades you got in that first playthrough,” he said.

“But you’re going to need them in the second playthrough because all of the enemy configurations have changed. All of the assistance you get in combat with those blue lightning bolts coming up against guys who are about to hit you, they’re gone. So you have to read their animations coming in.

“That’s why we really wanted to drive home the replayability with Batman: Arkham City – taking those gadgets back into the streets, delivering justice a second time around. Really asking, ‘Are you the Dark Knight? Have you got what it takes?’”

Arkham City releases this October on the PS3, PC and Xbox 360. A WiiU release is also planned.

The BBFC has rated Batman: Arkham City, due for release in October, and has given it a rating of 15+, citing strong violence.

The game features 165 minutes of cutscenes, that is 2 hours 45 minutes of cutscenes in a 40 hour long game. The game looks pretty good, and we can’t wait for its release.

Arkham City is due for release in October for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. A Wii U release in 2012 is also planned.
