Impostors, cats and luchadors. Sounds about right.

Microsoft has announced its Xbox Live Games With Gold titles for July. These include Drinkbox Studios’ Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition for the Xbox One while the Xbox 360 will be receiving Gotham City Impostors and BattleBlock Theater.

Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition is one of the cooler brawling platformers to arrive in a long time as you take the role of a masked luchador Juan Aguacate who must rescue the Mexican president’s daughty. This means much brawling, many elbow drops and tons of secrets to uncover. You can pick up Guacamelee! on July 2nd – it will be replacing Halo: Spartan Assault.

Meanwhile, for Xbox 360 players, there will be Gotham City Impostors, which sees two six player teams fighting using Batman and Joker-inspired weapons. It will be available on July 1st to 15th. From July 16th to 31st, you’ll have a chance to pick up The Behemoth’s BattleBlock Theater. The puzzle platformer sees you jumping, fighting and trying to survive against some seriously demented and intelligent cats.

What are thoughts on this month’s releases? Let us know in the comments.

Half Minute Hero 2, Happy Wars and many more apparently incoming.

According to a recent screenshot (courtesy NeoGAF) of the Steam database, which started acting up last night and began to display the names of several unreleased and unannounced PC titles, it seems that we’ll be getting a few unexpected new sequels and ports of existing titles.

Some standout names on the list include Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate HD, BattleBlock Theater, Half-Minute Hero, Happy Wars and Killing Floor 2. Blackgate HD is perhaps most intriguing but it makes sense considering the lackluster success of the game on the Vita. Why not bring it over to the PC audience which appreciated Arkham Origins far more?

For that matter, Battleblock Theater will finally be exiting the confines of the Xbox Marketplace and making its way to PC gamers. Check out the full list on below.

Take it as a rumour for now – especially given the names listed – but what are your thoughts on this line-up? Let us know in the comments below.

Did we mention cats? Because cats.

The long and short is that BattleBlock Theater is a platforming game from The Behemoth, who brought us titles like Castle Crashers. The premise indicates that the player and his love interest are trapped on an island. And while your love is forced to do the bidding of the horrifying locals – who are cats, by the way – you must run through horrific traps and mazes for their amusement.

But really, with a voice like that in the trailer? How could any one resist?

Of course there’s a lot more to the game, including competitive and cooperative multiplayer along with a level editor that allows you to create your own maddening, death-trap filled mazes. These levels can be made for any game type and shared with friends.

BattleBlock Theater is currently available on Xbox Live Arcade, exclusively on the Xbox 360 since Microsoft Games Studio is publishing. With the amount of praise it’s been receiving, it’s well worth checking out.
