Be as hopeful as you want, these games just won't make the E3 2018 cut.

For all the games that we hope will appear at E3 2018, or all the games that actually are appearing, there are some titles that just won’t be there. “Never say never” and all that according to The Fray but if these games are seen at this year’s E3, we’d be stunned. So let’s run down the list of all 14 candidates below.

Quantum Break 2

We know that Remedy Entertainment’s project codenamed P7 will be showcased at E3 2018. That’s a multiplatform project though – what about rumours of Quantum Break 2? Is it possible that P7 is actually Quantum Break 2 and we’ll see it appear? Well, no. The IP belongs to Microsoft and it’s unlikely to ever come to other platforms, let-alone be the same multiplatform project that Remedy is currently working on. While a sequel isn’t out of the question, it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing it this year.

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen hide nor tail of BattleCry, the debut game from the studio of the same name. That may be because the game has actually been cancelled. As Twinfinite reports, according to the LinkedIn profile of David Dobert, an Embedded QA Designer at BattleCry Studios, the free-to-play multiplayer game has officially ceased development.

Twinfinite has done some other digging around too, and has discovered that the website for the game, as well as the Twitter account, now no longer exist- the Twitter account was apparently last online in September, while the website was last online in October. It is now clear that BattleCry Studios is working on a new game, one that is also coming to the PS4 and Xbox One- but what exactly that game may be remains unclear for now.

Does the cancellation of BattleCry disappoint you? Let us know in the comments section.

F2P multiplayer title has some serious problems right now.

Remember Battlecry, the free to play multiplayer shooter from the newly formed Battlecry Studios that was backed by Bethesda Softworks? We haven’t heard much about the game, which was touted to feature 32 player battles and fast-paced third person gunfights, since new footage was showcased at E3 2015.

Now it seems that Bethesda is re-evaluating its objectives for the game. According to a statement given to the Progress Bar, a Bethesda representative said that, “We have concerns about the Battlecry game and whether it is meeting the objectives we have for it. We are evaluating what improvements the game needs to meet our quality standards.”

Even if Battlecry doesn’t work out, it seems the development team is plenty busy with “multiple projects”. Hopefully one of its games eventually pans out and releases worldwide. Until then, stay tuned for more information on the status of Battlecry in the coming months and let us hear what you think in the comments.

Check out how the action MOBA is shaping up.

Remember BattleCry, BattleCry Studios’ third person action MOBA of sorts? The Bethesda Softworks produced multiplayer title fell off the map shortly after its announcement but re-emerged during the company’s E3 2015 press conference. A new trailer featuring gameplay was released and sign-ups for the worldwide beta have gone live.

The trailer features some of the game’s classes including the Monk, Enforcer, Ranger, Infiltrator and more. The combat arenas are interesting, mixing steam-punk with Oriental looking backgrounds. If nothing else, we got a small glimpse of the action with each class bringing something interesting to the table. When can we expect an official release date for PC? That remains to be seen but you can head here for the official beta sign-ups.

What are your thoughts on the trailer for BattleCry and its current status? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more coverage from E3 2015 as the show goes underway.

Yet another year is looking cracking for PC gamers.

2015 will be a big year for video game releases with each console receiving their fair share of exclusives. PC gamers won’t miss out on their own selection of video games set to release this year. Take a look at 15 incredible upcoming PC video games, some of which are set to be exclusive titles for the PC, MAC and Linux operating systems while others will receive the title ahead of other console releases. Did we miss a PC title worth mentioning? Let us know in the comment section down below!

Note: List is in random order.

Firewatch

Developer: Campo Santo
Publisher: Campo Santo, Panic Inc.

Firewatch puts players in the role of a man named Henry, a retiree that has taken a new lonesome position. His new gig has him stationed in the Wyoming wilderness where he simply watches out for forest fires. The only means of communication with the outside world comes in the form of a radio to his companion and supervisor Delilah. Since Firewatch was Camp Santo’s first video game, little was known or expected until Pax 2014. Taking place in the 1980s, the story of Firewatch is one of exploration and mystery as it seems not just the wild animals are lurking in the lush forest.

During Pax 2014, the development team expressed that Firewatch is open-world but not as some would expect. Instead of being able to locate new places and take on different quests, the story will drive players into a more linear path. Nonetheless, Firewatch does carry over elements from Telltale Games, thanks to ex-Telltale Games creative director and designer Jake Rodkin. Expect a number of different responses to choose from when talking with Delilah. Unfortunately, it’s unknown if dialog choices will play a big part endgame.

Everything you need to know about Battlecry

Battlecry is an online multiplayer action game consisting of 32 player based team battles that is currently in development by Battlecry Studios, the Austin based video game developer that was created by ZeniMax Media in 2012. A team made up of video game development professionals, the studio has recently been confirmed to be geared towards the free to play gaming model with the announcement of Battlecry, their first game as a studio. They are officially the second studio belonging to ZeniMax Media alongside Arkane Studios, developers of the massively successful stealth action game, Dishonored.

Battlecry Studios, as mentioned before, are the second studio that has been created by Zenimax, they are also apparently geared towards making use of a free-to-play game model which most modern day gamers tend to reject as a serious business model due to a general emphasis on the Pay To Win ideology. At the moment, the game is planned to be released on the PC, presumably through Steam, though no other platforms have officially been announced to be supporting the game.

1. Development

2. Story

3. Gameplay

4. Characters

Development

Zenimax Media set up Battlecry Studios at some point in 2012 with the task of tackling the Free to Play business model in their video games. Free to play, often called Pay to Win, is a generally disliked business model because most Free to Play games are either of sub-par quality and/or reward players who pay more than players that are skilled. However, when Battlecry Studios was seeking staff, they were looking for employees who had experience in “micro transactions,”, ths would of course imply that the game will make use of microtransactions.

Being the second studio set up by Zenimax, this means they are working alongside (though not co-operating with) Arkane Studios who previously developed Dishonored. With that in mind, looking at the games promotional art and some screenshots, the two IP’s seem to share a distinct and very similar art style and overall design aesthetic. This was further expanded upon, and partly explained, during the games announcement post, an extract reads “Beyond combat, we wanted to offer something else to players – an original IP. In this new universe where traditional warfare is dead and gunpowder is outlawed, we looked to a striking fictional world directed by Viktor Antonov – well known for his amazing work on Dishonored and Half-Life 2 – to help reveal the story of the Panasophic Revolution…”

Heading up the team at Battlecry Studios is Rich Vogel,a veteran in the video games industry in the truest sense of the word, having worked on such titles as Ultima Online, one of the original true Massively multiplayer online role-playing games which went live in live in 1997, it’s is still running to this very day, such was its significance in gaming. Vogel also served as executive producer on Star Wars: The Old Republic and Star Wars Galaxies, (both of which were successful but ultimately unremarkable MMORPG’s set in the Star Wars Universe) amongst many other PC games and console titles in his career which has spanned over 20 years.

The game is being developed and marketed as an online Multiplayer Action Game rather than a online multiplayer first person shooter, of which there are already a great many. Coupling the gameplay style (which consists of a variety of classes that all specialise in one particular field) with a free to play business model, the game can be expected to play somewhat similar, if not identically, to Valves smash hit title Team Fortress 2 that is without a doubt one of the most successful free to play games that has ever been made, due in no small part to Valves peerless market research and development ideals. If Battlecry can steal even a portion of the TF2 install base, then it will be considered a success.

Lucas Dave, design director at Battlecry Studios, has said, “We’ve created a strong, distinct multiplayer experience, a new type of action game with fast frenetic multiplayer set in a beautiful world,” which is to be expected given that Vogel is on the team, PvP is a core part of most MMO’s that would scale well to a team based shooter with the right directing. The multiplayer experience can only go as far as the classes allow, and because of that each player will be fighting to obtain “Iron”. The games currency. This currency is used to unlock other characters and create specialised combat weaponry. Whilst not confirmed yet, it’s assumed that “Iron” will be available for a real world exhange of cash for product. This is the primary concern amongst gamers given that it’s the only real viable business model afforded to free to play games and it does, unfortunately, make the game a Pay to Win experience.

To that end, there will be a Beta made available in 2015, whether or not this is private or public isn’t certain yet. The Beta will include 5 classes only, but each will be playable .

Story

Not much story has been revealed outside of the general story outline. This is that sometime in 20th century, all of the worlds powers agree that if they are to kill each other, it will not be done from down the barrel of a gun. To that end, they all signed “The Black Powder Treaty” (black powder, for those of you that don’t know, is the common name for gunpowder that was used in conventional firearms in there early years, think of a flint lock musket or pistol for a good idea) that prohibits the use of gunpowder operated weaponry, leaving swords and clubs and other technologies of the time the only viable alternative. Cleverly though, this doesn’t rule out the use of mag rails to create rail gun like weapons (similar to that of a coil gun) that propel metal at high speeds without the need of gunpowder.

Wars and conflicts are also restrained to certain warzones to help limit, if not entirely remove, collateral damage that so threatens the innocents in war. These concentrated warzones are designed in a way that means mass armies of chaff and canon fodder are of no use, instead armies are made of small groups of specialised soldiers that are the elite amongst the elite.

Gameplay

Players are split into teams in a 32 person war, split into teams of 16 in a team vs team battle with each individual player taken control of a character class that is a specialist in their field. For more information on this, see the Character portion of this Wiki. The best way to think of this game at the minute is Team Fortress 2 with a new lick of paint. More details as and when they’re available.

Characters

At this time, details about the characters are vague at best. Three out of the five available classes have been revealed by name and they are the enforcer, presumably the character that makes use of a shield, the duellist is most likely the sword wielding character and the tech archer which is rather self explanatory. A fourth may be the Gadgeteer.

A new take on MOBAs?

What is Battlecry? Why, it’s a free to play online action game that supports up to 32 players at a time, coming to PCs. The game was announced a while ago, but now, at PAX Australia, Bethesda has been showing off more of the game. The trailer that you see above is the newest piece of media for the game that we have, and it shows us how it is coming along. Which is- pretty damn well, actually.

The game, which has all the trappings of a traditional MOBA, is nonetheless promising something different from everything else in the genre, with the first hint towards that being the game’s setting, which is World War I. The distinctive, stylized graphics, the team based mechanics Bethesda is promising, and the setting alone should make the game stand out a fair bit.

Battlecry will be launching only on PC. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage.

Executive producer Rich Vogel says to not "be surprised to see it there".

Battlecry, a free to play multiplayer title in the vein of Team Fortress 2 from Bethesda Softworks and Battlecry Studios, will be heading to PC. An early beta is scheduled for early 2015 but executive producer Rich Vogel told Gamestop at E3 that it could come to consoles eventually.

“We’ll be releasing PC first, but we have controllers on the show floor. It’s all set up for consoles, it’s something that we’re seriously going to be looking at after the PC launch.

“This game cries to be on console, because we got all of our inspiration from console games. A lot of our team has experience doing consoles, don’t be surprised to see it there. We definitely see this game playing well on consoles.”

Battlecry will be set in the early 20th century where gun powder has been banned and battles are waged in select war zones. What are your thoughts on the game thus far? Let us know in the comments.

Pete Hines indicates that there's more to Bethesda than just Fallout.

If you were anticipating Fallout 4 among the string of potential announcements from Bethesda Softworks, then you might have been disappointed to see the announcement of BattleCry. Nonetheless, Bethesda’s VP of Marketing & PR Pete Hines remains flippant about the same. Speaking to GameZone, Hines spoke about how there’s more to Bethesda than just Elder Scrolls and Fallout.

“We’re a company that has seven studios and we’re doing a lot of things that aren’t Bethesda Game Studios or Elder Scrolls or Fallout, and [Battlecry] is yet another. Again, if you’re only looking for something that is Fallout, well, then it doesn’t matter what else we’re doing. I guess you’re not interested.

“I love playing [Battlecry]. We make games that we like to play. We really enjoy every time there’s a playtest for Battlecry. Afterwards, we’re walking around outside our offices and cubes, talking about who did what to whom, and did you see this.”

BattleCry does look intriguing but we are a little bummed that Fallout 4 wasn’t announced. Are you? Let us know in the comments.

Did we mention free to play?

Bethesda Softworks has finally revealed its next big project. No, it’s not Fallout 4 but a 32-player multiplayer action title developed by BattleCry studios called – oddly enough – BattleCry. This will be the studio’s first project and will be a free to play team-based competitive title. If that wasn’t enough, the art direction is being handled by Viktor Antonov of Half Life 2 and Dishonored fame.

In BattleCry, you’ll choose your own faction – the Royal Marines or the Cossacks – and choose your own abilities as you rank up. You’ll be able to use different weapons like swords that can transform into shields, electro-static blades and much more.

President and executive producer at BattleCry Studios Rich Vogel stated that, “The BattleCry team is happy to unveil the game that bears our studio’s name. We have been hard at work to create a fresh experience for gamers that brings together multiplayer action with visually stunning combat and are excited to share details about the game and have people play BattleCry in Bethesda’s booth at E3.”

BattleCry is set for a beta release in 2015. Thoughts? Tell us below.
