Mass Effect Andromeda out "later in fiscal year".

After its recent financial report, Electronic Arts spoke to investors in a post-release call. It confirmed that a new Titanfall was indeed on the way and that progress has been “fantastic” thus far. There’s no release date yet unfortunately.

EA stated that, “In Q1, we’ll begin with the creative and innovative Mirror’s Edge Catalyst from DICE launching in May. A great line-up of EA Sports titles are in development for next year, and we look forward to sharing more about these new experiences in the months ahead.”

There is a new Battlefield game due later this holiday season from DICE. “An all-new Battlefield game from DICE will arrive in time for the holidays, we’re excited to have a new Titanfall experience coming from our friends at Respawn – and of course, Mass Effect Andromeda from the team at BioWare will launch later in the fiscal year.”

The Mass Effect Andromeda news is interesting. Could it possibly be delayed into Q1 2017? We’ll find out later this year.

EA confirms that next year will indeed have a new Battlefield release.

Though Star Wars: Battlefront may be Electronic Arts’ answer to the yearly shooter sequel cycle, it will return to the status quo next year with a new Battlefield title. This was confirmed during an earnings call with investors by CFO Blake Jorgensen.

“What we’ve said is that our intention over the next couple of years is to have a first-person shooter as one of the core titles. This year it’s Star Wars: Battlefront. Next year, it’s another Battlefield title.”

It’s not known whether DICE will be developing the next Battlefield title since it will be supporting Star Wars: Battlefront and releasing Mirror’s Edge Catalyst early next year. The last major Battlefield title came from Visceral Games in the form of Battlefield: Hardline which met with average critical acclaim and strong sales.

What do you hope to see in the next Battlefield and will it be as graphically intense as Star Wars: Battlefront? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

New Battlefield still on track for Holiday 2016 release.

EA revealed its fiscal year 2015 results for the quarter ending on December 31st 2014 and noted that total net revenue was at $1.13 billion. CEO Andrew Wilson also noted that the next Battlefield – the one after Visceral Games’ Battlefield: Hardline – is still on track for a Holiday 2016 release.

Other noteworthy details included the return of Need for Speed in the publisher’s rotation from the next fiscal year, Star Wars Battlefront out in Holiday 2015 and a new PGA Tour for release by June end. That means we’ll have another E3 press conference where EA wastes time on its sports games. Joy.

Total net revenue for the nine months ending the third quarter was $3.3 billion with net income at $142 million. Net revenue year on year was $808 million, representing a 33 percent gain, as net loss year on year is at $308 million. EA’s Ultimate Team modes have helped with digital revenue with $693 million coming in from digital alone. However, it was Battlefield Premium that represented the bulk of digital revenue.

Blake Jorgensen says it's currently looking to be a "fun, new Battlefield".

EA’s Battlefield: Hardline will be the first game in the series to explore a perspective distinct from the military trappings of old. Rather than soldiers, you’ll be playing as cops and hunting down crooks and robbers, which extends to several of the new multiplayer modes like Hotwire and Blood Money. However, those hoping to once again take the reins of a soldier will be glad to hear that the franchise will return to its military roots in 2016.

According to EA CFO Blake Jorgensen at the 2014 UBS Global Technology Conference (via GameSpot), Battlefield 2016 is already looking to be a “fun, new Battlefield” which “will be a return to a Battlefield military-style game; more to come on that.”

Meanwhile, Battlefield: Hardline was originally slated to release in this quarter but was delayed to 2015. It will now be releasing on March 17th 2015 in North America and March 19th 2015 in Europe for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC.
