If you own a copy of Battlefield 4 on the Xbox One, you’ll be happy to know that its China Rising expansion is now free to download. As a part of the Road to Battlefield celebrations that DICE are holding to drum up some free publicity and hype for the upcoming Battlefield 1, the premier expansion pack for 2013’s hit shooter will now be available to download for free.

As of right now, it’s only available to Xbox One owners on Xbox Live- EA and DICE usually make the expansions free to Xbox users, before sharing the love with PC and PlayStation 4 fans too. Hopefully by the end of this week, PS4 and PC players should be able to download the DLC for free, too.

Battlefield 4 launched in October 2013 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. Battlefield 1 will be launching this October for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage and information.

Battlefield 4: China Rising is now available for Battlefield Premium subscribers, with a retail release on December 17th, but it’s apparently already rife with problems. EA has admitted that there may be “an occasional hiccup, issue, glitch, or problem that could interrupt or prohibit your gameplay”. Some players have even been prompted to download the DLC again and have been advised to have the latest patch installed as a work-around.

PC players meanwhile are being kicked from multiplayer matches, to which EA stated that, “DICE have identified the issue and is implementing a solution to the problem. This fix will take some time to be fully completed, but players should be noticing normal gameplay behavior soon.”

As for Xbox 360 players who can’t join matches at all? “We’re investigating this issue and will provide updates as quickly as possible.”

Thus far, Battlefield 4 has had a problematic multiplayer release with several errors arising on all platforms, most especially for the PS4 (with the major issues being addressed in a recent patch).

Battlefield 4’s China Rising DLC is now available…for Battlefield Premium subscribers, that is. For normal players, you’ll need to wait till December 17th to get a hold of the new DLC. Or you can watch the new launch trailer and get pumped up for the new features to look forward to.

Aside from the new multiplayer maps – which include Silk Road, Altai Range, Guilin Peaks, and Dragon Pass – you’ll also have new vehicles, the People’s Liberation Army of China as a new faction and the Air Superiority game type. This allows all players to combat each other in planes and helicopters, with all the action taking place in the skies. There’s also enough destruction on display as is par the course for a Battlefield 4 trailer.

Battlefield 4 is currently available for Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One and PC. Those who pre-ordered the game will receive the China Rising DLC for free, while others will need to pay $15 for the same.

Previously Electronic Arts teased a big announcement for Battlefield 4 and it looks like its the reveal of the China Rising expansion and the fact that Battlefield 4 is officially coming to next-generation platforms PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

By pre-ordering Battlefield 4 players will have access to China Rising pack for free.

China Rising pack will contain four new maps, brand new vehicles and high tech gear according to the official pre-order page of Battlefield 4.
