Stunning visuals, destructible environments, and all around carnage.

Yesterday, EA and DICE released a short teaser for a full-fledged Gamescom trailer for the upcoming Battlefield V (yes, we live in times where trailers announcing trailers have become a common thing), and that video has now dropped. And it looks stunning, to say the least.

Stunning visuals are, of course, something we’ve come to expect from Battlefield games (or really, anything DICE makes in general), and Battlefield 5 looks suitably breathtaking in this new trailer, titled “Devastation of Rotterdam”. There’s plenty of carnage in here, from environmental destruction being shown off in all its glory, to vehicular combat on the ground and in the air, to good old regular infantry combat. And, of course, EXPLOSIONS.

It looks pretty intense. You’ll also note, interestingly enough, a tease of the game’s battle royale mode right at the end of the trailer, with the ring of fire closing in. Take a look below if you’re interested in the game.

Battlefield V launches on October 19 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Though you’d expect a game as massive as this to do well regardless of any other circumstances, it seems like that might not be the case. Analysts believe that it will be outperformed in the Holiday season by the likes of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Fallout 76, and Red Dead Redemption 2. On top of that, other reports are also suggesting that Battlefield V’s pre-order performances have been weaker than expected.

Analysts at Piper Jaffray believe Battlefield 5 may not perform as well as some other upcoming games.

There are a lot of upcoming games to be excited for during the holiday season from October onwards. With a lot of huge games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Red Dead Redemption 2 and more in the pipeline, people are going to have plenty to choose from. The analysts at Piper Jaffray have concluded as part of a study they conducted that EA’s Battlefield 5 may perform the worst out of all those big hitters.

The analyst firm conducted a survey for five games, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Battlefield V, Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and Fallout 76. A total of 300 US based gamers were asked which games they were most interested in playing, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was the game most voted for, with Red Dead Redemption 2 in second place. Battlefield V was the game that these gamers were least interested in.

Furthermore, the analysts also took a look at the YouTube like/dislike ratio for these game, and Battlefield V was the lowest in the charts here as well, while Red Dead Redemption 2 was at the top. Of course, there is one factor to consider, which is EA’s decision to feature female soldiers in the game, which many fans did not take very well to, for some reason. That clearly has had an impact on the game’s public perception as well, especially on platforms such as YouTube. You can check the images for results of both these surveys below (via WCCFTech).

Although the game is the lowest in the charts, it will still probably perform reasonably well. Last month, analysts from Piper Jaffray itself predicted that Battlefield 5 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will outsell Red Dead Redemption 2, so there isn’t any consensus on this out there, that’s for sure. We’ll just have to wait and see when Battlefield V releases for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 19.

Apparently they've have learnt from their mistake with Star Wars: Battlefront 2.

EA discussed their monetization plans and more regarding Battlefield V during their financial conference call for investors and analysts. It looks like the company has learnt from their mistakes with Star Wars: Battlefront II.

The aim with Battlefield V has been to deliver a big and spectacular game that players would continue to engage with over time, similar to Star Wars: Battlefront II. However, the company has re-evaluated their use of progression systems and monetization practices and are using a completely new kind of progression system with Battlefield V.

Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgenson also stated that EA is looking at the purchasing intent, pre-orders and other elements surrounding the game and they’re quite happy with the results. We can expect the game to be a massive success then- at least based on what EA is saying. Chief Executive Officer Andrew Wilson stated that there will be a long term service plan so as to continue delivering content to players and to keep them engaged for a long period.

Battlefield V is set to release for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 19.

Although we'll get to see some vanity items that seem out of place, these all belong to the WWII time period, according to DICE.

The gaming community hasn’t been too happy with some of the decisions developers DICE have made regarding Battlefield V. There was a significant amount of backlash against the developers for granting options to players to play as either women or characters from different ethnic backgrounds, with critics citing historical inaccuracy as the reason for these criticisms.

Apart from this, the community also expressed their dissatisfaction with some of the vanity items that were going to be in the game. The main problem that the community pointed out with regards to the vanity items is that they seemed like they did not belong to the specific historical period. However, in a recent interview with gaming magazine PC Gamer (August 2018, Issue Number: 320), DICE Producer Andreas Morrell discussed the topic of vanity items, and he confirmed that all of the items used will not be out of place with the time period.

“It needs to be believable,” said Morrell. “It needs to fit with the era. We’re not creating a steampunk universe or anything like that. But if it was used, we can have it. Doing research for this, we stumbled across a guy called ‘Mad Jack’ Churchill, a British guy who was part of the Norwegian campaign. He was the only one who’s got a confirmed kill with a sword in World War II. He used to go into battle with a bagpipe and a Scottish broadsword. So I wouldn’t be surprised if we included a bagpipe as an item because there was one crazy guy who used it.” This means we’ll get to see some wacky items in the game that may seem out of place, but were actually used historically- at least to some extent.

Battlefield V is set to release for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 19.

Here are the most important new details that have emerged on Battlefield V during E3 2018.

We’ve known about Battlefield V for some time now- the game was first officially announced not that long before E3 kicked off, but it was only with EA’s recent media event that we were able to sink our teeth into the game’s meatier details. A lot was shown, a lot was detailed, new stuff was announced, and previously shown stuff was spoken about was explained a little bit more. In this feature, we’re going to talk about the fifteen most interesting things we’ve learned about Battlefield 5 during E3. Without further ado, let’s jump right in.

IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL

Let’s get the most obvious and more readily apparent thing out of the way right off the bat. Battlefield has had a long history of looking absolutely stunning with each instalment, and Battlefield 5 is no different. Every tiny bit of footage we saw of the game looked stunning, with best-in-class visuals across the board, from the lighting, to the character models, to the tiny little details in the environments, to the snow… oh my god, the snow. Granted, on the consoles the game probably won’t look as good as the E3 footage did (though the Xbox One X version is bound to be pretty close), but even so, what we saw was enough to get us incredibly excited about the game’s visual fidelity.

A new trailer for the game's single player sections was shown off at the Microsoft E3 press event.

At EA’s E3 media briefing yesterday, Battlefield V was, to no one’s surprise, a pretty prominent presence. Lots of new details on the game’s multiplayer side of things were announced, while it was also confirmed that it would indeed have a battle royale mode of its own. Today at Microsoft’s E3 presser, though, we got to take a brief look at the single player side of things.

We know that just like its predecessor, Battlefield V will feature the episodic single player chapters that are together called War Stories, and one of these stories is going to be that of Nordlys, which was teased at EA’s event and looked at a little more deeply at Microsoft’s. Its focus seems to be decidedly more personal in nature than what one might expect, with the players’ main goal being reunifying with their character’s – who is no more than a child – family.

You can take a look at the trailer below (via YouTube channel MKIceAndFire). It doesn’t show any gameplay, unfortunately, but it’s definitely an interesting look at the narrative setup. Battlefield V is due out in October for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Stick with GamingBolt for continued coverage.

New gameplay videos reveal new information on the Grand Operations mode and the in-game vehicles.

EA and DICE have been releasing a slew of new information on the upcoming Battlefield V on the heels of their E3 press conference yesterday. Recently, they’ve sponsored a bunch of YouTube channels to release videos on the game that not only show gameplay footage, but also talk about and give new details on plenty of new features that will be included in the game. We’ve got two of those videos for you here.

The first video, uploaded by YouTube channel jackfrags, dives deep into multiplayer footage of the game, and talks about the Grand Operations mode, a new 64-player multiplayer mode in Battlefield V. There’s plenty of interesting footage in the video, and details revealed about what exactly the game mode is going to be like, so take a look at it below.

The second video, uploaded by YouTube channel Flakfire, spends quite a bit of time talking about Battlefield V’s vehicles. There’s plenty of gameplay footage in there as well, but more notably, it reveals information on how several vehicle-related things work in the game, such as towing, resupplying and supply points, and repairing vehicles with quick repair and self repair. You can watch that below too.

Battlefield V is due out on October 19 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Stick with GamingBolt for more coverage on the game.

War never changes but it definitely looks more gorgeous in Battlefield 5.

To cap off its reveal, DICE announced that Battlefield 5 would be releasing on October 19th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. This came off of an explosive reveal trailer which could either be in-engine and or actual gameplay. Either way, it was crazy, full of explosions and highlighted the large-scale visceral combat that the franchise is known for. Check it out below.

Along with featuring some modest light machine gun gameplay, we also got a look at the various vehicles and destructibility that environments will possess. Though DICE talked about the new Fortifications that players could build, countering the immense destruction taking place, they weren’t seen in the reveal trailer.

Battlefield 5’s multiplayer will be showcased on June 9th at EA Play, which is also the first presser to kick off E3 2018. We’ll get a look at Grand Operations, the larger take on Battlefield 1’s Operations mode and possibly learn more about the closed beta launch.

Tides of War to offer months-long seasons with unique items and rewards.

In an announcement echoing the removal of paid DLC for Star Wars Battlefront 2, DICE announced that the Battlefield Premium Pass would be going away with Battlefield 5. That means no more expansion packs – new maps and modes will be free for all players.

Naturally, you’d think there’s a catch but the developer already confirmed that there would be no pay to win elements with the game. Perhaps cosmetics tied to loot boxes and such (though DICE didn’t outright confirm it)? That might tie into the new Tides of War. Described as a months long event, Tides of War sees players going on a grand tour of different conflicts.

It sounds a lot like seasons and will have new vehicles, weapons, face paint, dog tags and soldier skins to earn with thematic rewards as well. This is also where the new maps and modes would debut. Battlefield 5 launches in October with the first chapter of Tides of War – focusing on the fall of Europe – starting in November and lasting till early 2019.
