Lucas Pope has moved on from Papers, Please – the breakout indie hit about bureaucracy – to release the equally amazing Return of the Obra Dinn. However, it seems that Kinodom Productions, which created a stellar short film on Papers, Please, also has something new to reveal. This time, it’s a short film on Warm Lamp Games’ Beholder. Check it out below.

Fashioned after dystopic works from George Orwell and Ray Bradbury, the Beholder short film sees a landlord tasked with spying on his tenants. Throughout the black-and-white aesthetic, we also get a look at how the landlord attempts to take care of his ailing daughter. There’s not much dialogue or sound to be had save for the wonderful background score.

The game Beholder follows a similar plot, with Carl installed as a landlord by the State to spy on tenants. While he has the opportunity to rig apartments with listening devices and search belongings, it’s possible for the player to either abide by the State’s directive or help the tenants. Beholder is available for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch.
