From Interplay’s Fallout 1, 2 and Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel to Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition, Fallout: New Vegas – Ultimate Edition, Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition and Fallout 76, it’s all here. Unfortunately, the anthology doesn’t come with any physical games. Instead, you get seven S.P.E.C.I.A.L. cards depicting the different stats and featuring PC codes for each title.

On the plus side, they come with a mini-nuke container (which audibly explodes) for collectors. So there’s that, and honestly, not much else.

The Fallout TV show’s first episode premieres on April 12th on Amazon Prime. In the gaming sphere, Fallout 76 is slated to receive new content this year – check out the roadmap here. Fallout 4 fans can also expect its next-gen update to arrive sometime this year, though further details have to be revealed.

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 2 will launch for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The remaster will support up to 4K resolutions (on the hardware that permits it, obviously), full co-op support, four difficulty levels, full voice acting, and more. It’s also been confirmed to be fully optimized for the Steam Deck. Watch the remastered release’s release date trailer below.

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 2 was originally released for PS2 and Xbox back in 2004. Developed by Black Isle Studios, the hack-and-slash action RPG took place in the Forgotten Realms setting and was based on the ruleset of Dungeons and Dragons 3rd Edition.

While sporting the Baldur’s Gate name, Dark Alliance 2 was a spin-off following the success of BioWare’s Baldur’s Gate games. It takes place in the same area of Dungeons & Dragons‘ Forgotten Realms setting.

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 2 is an action-RPG, featuring gameplay similar to classic Diablo games. The remasters only support local co-op, so online multiplayer will only be possible through Steam’s Remote Play options.

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 2 features over 80 levels, hundreds of items, plenty of magical weapons and armour, and full voice acting. According to the game’s Steam page, it also features two secret characters: Drizzt Do’Urden and Artemis Entreri—both popular characters from the Forgotten Realms setting.

In a new tweet, the developer stated that it’s “coming,” that too, “Sooner than you think.” Follow-up tweets indicated that it was coming to PC and consoles which includes Nintendo Switch. It won’t be coming out today but Black Isle will be announcing dates “that will hopefully make everyone very happy!”

Gameplay-wise, Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 2 is an isometric action RPG like its predecessor. There are five characters, each having their own unique class and abilities, along with support for local co-op. Along with leveling up and increasing core stats, players can also customize their own weapons and armor along with slotting runestones and gems for advantages. Of the many titles being remade and remastered, a re-release of Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance came somewhat out of left field. The classic action RPG initially launched in 2001 and was thought to be lost to time. Nevertheless, it was re-released on May 7th for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch with improved visuals and support for 4K.

The PC version is slated to arrive later this year on Steam but what about Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 2? While Black Isle Studios didn’t outright confirm its release, it is “on the table.” Fans are advised to “stay tuned” for more details in the meantime.

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 2 released in 2004 for PS2 and Xbox, offering five new playable characters, custom weapon and armor creation, and a brand new story. Time will tell if it eventually gets a re-release but it would certainly be welcome. However, It’s unlikely that Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 3 ever gets made though especially with Larian Studios currently working on Baldur’s Gate 3 and Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance on the way.

Right now the big focus of the Fallout franchise is with Fallout 76, and its continued attempt to get where it needs to be content-wise. But today we got word that we’re getting a big revisit to the single player entries in the series, though oddly, that revisit is only happening in a small amount of regions.

Today Bethesda announced the Fallout Legacy Collection. The collection is coming to PC and includes all single player focused Fallout games. That includes even those games not developed by Bethesda originally, so the original two games, Fallout Tactics and Fallout: New Vegas are here. All editions are also the complete editions, so any DLC or expansions are included.

It’s quite the package, but there is a catch here. The collection will only be available in the Germany and UK regions. This was confirmed via the official Twitter, which you can see below. Why exactly this is, or whether or not this collection will eventually roll out to other regions is unclear at this time. If you happen to be in either the UK or Germany, the collection will release on October 25th.

Bethesda’s Fallout 76 recently received a hefty new patch containing over 150 fixes on PC (consoles get it next week). However, those who logged into the game last year can now avail of the old-school Fallout games, free of charge. The Fallout Classic Collection is now available and it contains Fallout 1, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel. Even if you played the PS4 or Xbox One versions of Fallout 76, you’ll still receive the collection for free on PC.

Unlike Bethesda’s Fallout titles, Interplay’s Fallout games are all from the overhead isometric perspective. Players can customize their character as they see fit and place points into different stats based on the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system. Throughout the first two games, you’ll run into different situations, which require speech checks to bypass.

Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel takes a different story-telling approach, providing players with a squad-based tactical turn-based RPG. Though criticized from departing from the previous games’ approach, Fallout Tactics was generally praised for its gameplay and overall atmosphere. If you’ve never played the older titles and wondered what all the fuss was about, now’s your chance to find out.

Vault 13: A GURPS Post-Nuclear Adventure

Fallout wasn’t always going to be a post-apocalyptic, violent RPG that put Interplay and Black Isle Studios on the map. Instead, it to be called Vault 13: A GURPS Post-Nuclear Adventure and based off of Steve Jackson Games’ GURPS. At some point, it seemed that the game would be about time travel which was removed in favour of a post-nuclear setting. It was all going well…until Steve Jackson saw the violence in the game and decided against the GURPS system being used (though Jackson said Interplay took this step on its own without providing a reason). As a result, Black Isle went with its proprietary S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system and with Brian Fargo suggesting the name “Fallout”, a franchise was born.

“Since we are no longer constrained by licensing issues, we have the opportunity to build a new IP from the ground up and there is a lot more latitude to unleash our creativity, try some new ideas and even incorporate your suggestions. Our goal at this stage is threefold: 1) prove to management that you want Black Isle Studios resurrected – and all the history and tradition of excellence that goes with it; 2) to continue to staff up BIS and complete our PV13 game design; and 3) to develop a tech demo/proof of concept for our design that will open the doors to additional funding.”

Though using many of the same diktats and features as Kickstarter, no goal amount has been listed and rather than charge backers when they’ve donated enough meet funding needs, Black Isle will charge credit cards at he time of the pledge, with the additional legal parachute of delivering on its basic obligations if it can launch forums by the end of July (with the current launch slated for late January).

However, at one point in history, when they were still the guys who resurrected Dungeons and Dragons games for the PC with the highly successful and acclaimed Baldur’s Gate series, they had competition.

That competition was Black Isle Studios, who created some of the foremost legendary RPGs that ever walked the planet Earth. Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale alone would make a development studio today. Sadly, they were shut down by Interplay shortly after they had their D&D license revoked. It was on the darkest days in gaming.

But now, though it seemed impossible, Interplay has resurrected Black Isle Studios.
