Zombies, mutants, soldiers - there's no shortage of things to shoot in the coming years.

One thing you can be sure of in this day and age – there won’t ever be a shortage of shooting games. Be it multiplayer titles, co-op titles, Call of Duty and Battlefield, or dark fantasy, there are some pretty good shooters coming up in 2018 and beyond. Let’s take a look at 15 of them here.

Call of Duty 2018

A new Call of Duty will be releasing this year. Surprise, surprise. Given how we know Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games have had their turn, Activision would confirm that Treyarch is up next. Even more surprises! Now, the rumours that this may be Call of Duty: Black Ops 4? Even less surprising but it would be interesting to see where the franchise goes, especially given the augmented reality/mind-jacking mess that was Black Ops 3.

Campaign will be restarted when Romero has a gameplay demo ready to show.

Just days after launching the Kickstarter campaign for BLACKROOM, the new first person shooter that promises to be ‘extremely violent’ and ‘fast paced’ with a variety of multiplayer modes, John Romero has hit the pause button on the Kickstarter campaign for the game. As of right now, the campaign had reached just $131,052 at the time of its cancellation, more than $550,000 short of its $700,000 target.

Romero claims that he will launch a second Kickstarter once he has a gameplay demo for the game ready, to show backers exactly what it is that he wants them to back.

“The team is at work on a demo which demonstrates the kind of gameplay, look and innovative, cool features that make BLACKROOM truly unique — the things we’ve waited years to put into an FPS and which make us incredibly excited about this game,” an update from the developer said.

“There’s a hitch here, a hitch that’s making us do something that’s right for the game, the team, and the community: we’re pressing “PAUSE” on the fundraising campaign for BLACKROOM to complete this gameplay demo.

“Simply put, this will take more time than the Kickstarter has left, so we’ve decided to suspend the campaign and launch a new one when the gameplay demo is ready. We believe, however, it is the right choice. We know you do, too. Thanks to your feedback, we know we should have included it at launch.”

He confirmed that people who backed the first campaign will get Early Backer benefits, as will Early Backers on the second campaign; he also confirmed that those who backed both campaigns will be getting something special.

BLACKROOM is scheduled to release on PC in winter 2018.

Now on Kickstarter.

In the early 1990s, four young men came together to create id Software, and a series of games that ended up redefining the industry and changing the world- Wolfenstein, DOOM, and Quake were among some of the genre defining titles that these men released.

The four men soon split ways, and their subsequent individual pursuits never quite hit the greatness of those early efforts. And yet, now, two of those four men – John Romero, the man famous for developing the infamous Daikatana (with which he struck out once the game released after a protracted development cycle and turned out to be horrid), and Adrian Carmack – are reuniting to deliver a new FPS.

That FPS is BLACKROOM, “a visceral, action-packed FPS set in a holographic simulation gone rogue.” It is currently on Kickstarter with a goal of $700,000- of which almost $24,000 have already been collected in the few hours since the Kickstarter went up. You can check the trailer for this game for yourself below. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage and information on the title.
