During the BlizzCon Campfire Chat, community director Adam Fletcher said there will be more news next Summer. Series GM Rod Fergusson also appeared on Force Gaming’s stream to clarify that the developer didn’t want to “light the hype fire” and “make it too big to just cool off eventually, leading to players having to wait for a long time.”

He said that the big reveal is planned for early next Summer (in “about six months or so”) and provided more details on the new class and story. As for the BlizzCon reveal, “We wanted to give enough to keep players interested but not go crazy and then have them wonder what’s going on.”

There’s plenty of other Diablo 4 content coming soon. The next patch goes live on November 7th and adds five new Unique Rings with powers from Season of the Malignant. The Abattoir Zir also arrives on December 5th, providing a six-week end-game event for level 100 players, while the first seasonal event, Midwinter Blight, goes live on December 12th. After having been cancelled for two out of the last three years and having been an online-only event for one of them, Blizzard has announced that BlizzCon will be returning as a physical event to the Anaheim Convention Center on November 3-4. The developer says it will be sharing more details about the show next month, including ticketing information, cosplay and other competition details, and more.

BlizzCon has, of course, been host to a number of major announcements by Blizzard Entertainment over the years, and as the first BlizzCon since 2019, one would expect the company will have plenty in store for this year as well.

By the time the event comes around, the developer will have a number of major ongoing games to talk about, including the likes of Diablo 4, Overwatch 2, World of Warcraft, World of Warcraft Classic, and Diablo Immortal. Whether we also end up hearing about completely new titles remains to be seen.

Allegations of sexual misconduct, wrongful death and discrimination against Activision Blizzard also probably didn’t help. However, the company spoke last year about bringing it back in 2023.

President Mike Ybarra has since replied on Twitter, “Ok, ok…yes, I see all the BlizzCon questions. You’ll hear more in the next ~2 weeks. We’re excited, we have a lot to show and celebrate together. I can’t wait.”

As such, Blizzard’s titles have seen plenty of updates on their own and at last year’s Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. Diablo 4 is out on June 6th, with a livestream focused on Seasons, cosmetics and the Battle Pass set for May 10th. Overwatch 2 is in the middle of Season 4, with plans for the future yet to be revealed. World of Warcraft’s expansion Dragonflight also continues to receive updates.
