Server performance issues, quality of life issues, anti-cheats, and much more to be addressed in next few months.

Bluehole Studios and PUBG Corp have seen great success with PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. That said, lingering issues, among other things, have caused the game’s reputation to take a sharp downturn since launch. To address these issues, the development team has announced the “Fix PUBG” campaign with a dedicated microsite and roadmap outlining the next few months.

Client optimization, server performance, anti-cheat features, matchmaking, and quality of life fixes are the main categories that will be tracked from now until October. Various specific details have also been provided on different fixes and more information will be coming as the campaign progresses.

In the meantime, a new patch is heading to live servers on PC to kickstart the campaign. Some of the fixes and improvements included in this patch are a graphics sharpening option, mute options for individual teammates, colourblind and loot to stack splitting improvements, reduced vehicle sounds in first person perspective, FPS cap adjustments, and much more.

The developer further added, “Many of the improvements we’ll be making to the PC version will naturally be carried over to the Xbox version of the game as well. We’re committed to fixing problems for all our players.”

What are your thoughts on Bluehole’s commitment to “fixing” PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds? Let us know in the comments. In the meantime, check out the features that will be implemented in today’s patch:

Limb penetration will be implemented (if a player model’s hands or limbs are blocking a more vital area, bullets will now deal full damage for that area).

Graphics “sharpening” will be added as a separate toggle in the settings.

You’ll be able to mute individual teammates while in-game.

Quality-of-life improvements are coming to colourblind mode.

Quality-of-life improvements are also coming to loot stack splitting (more control).

Vehicle sounds will be reduced when driving in first-person perspective.

You’ll be able to adjust your FPS cap (including by setting it to “uncapped”).

You’ll also be able to set your in-game FPS cap and lobby FPS cap separately.

The team has seen delays in making announcements regarding their plans for the first half of 2018.

PUBG Corp had revealed details yesterday about a ping-based matchmaking system that they are working on. While the team had planned to implement this system earlier, they have been delayed due being occupied with working on anti-cheat measures. There have also been delays to the announcement of new content that we can expect to see in 2018.

In their post regarding the new update, the team stated that they will reveal their plans for new content for the first half of 2018 in March. Along with other things, we can also expect to receive details regarding a new map and other “improvements and modifications to create a deeper and more realistic gameplay.” It’s certainly exciting to think about a new map since it could be any kind of locale, whether it is of a snowy region or a city locale or something else entirely.

We’ll just have to wait until next month for new information. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is currently available for the PC, and as Game Preview title for the Xbox One.

The developers are currently working on this new method and they are currently preparing to test it.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ developer has shared details regarding the game’s new 1.0 update for PC. Along with details about bug fixes and gameplay changes, the team also shared details regarding a method they are working on that will prioritize players wil low ping during matchmaking.

The team had earlier addressed the issue of ping-based matchmaking but the update has been delayed since the team has been occupied with implementing anti-cheat measures. However, the team is now working on a new method which is described as follows, “Unlike the method considered earlier, we are going to divide the matching pool depending on ping. This means that the users with lower pings will be prioritized during matchmaking. The team is expecting to improve the overall play experience by splitting the matching pool rather than restricting connection depending on ping. Preparations are underway to test this method in some regions, with first trials planned to start this week. Specific dates will be shared when ready.”

This will certainly make the game much more enjoyable for players whose experience won’t be affected by other players’ high ping. Hopefully, this new method will be implemented as soon as possible. The new update fixes a number of issues in the game while also adding new loot crates and making some gameplay changes. If you want to know more about the changes brought with the new update, you can read all about it here.

PC players can get back to the game.

If you’ve been regularly playing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on PC (and chances are you have been), you may have noticed that it recently faced some serious connectivity issues. PUBG’s PC servers went down, with a vast majority of players reporting issues that either wouldn’t let them login or made it hard to be able find a game.

It seems those issues have now been fixed. PUBG’s official helpdesk account took to Twitter to confirm that the connectivity issues that people had been facing has now been fixed. So you can now go back to obsessively playing PUBG again without any issues.

It was recently confirmed that PUBG had crossed over 26 million copies sold, which is an incredibly high number, especially for a game that was only released, (and that too in Early Access for the majority of those sales). It got a full launch recently, and we posted our review following that. You can read it here.

PC players, the server connectivity issue has now been resolved. Thank you for your patience.
