Here’s a comprehensive listing of all of the Firmware that can be found for your gear in Borderlands 4 as well as the bonuses they confer.

One of the new gameplay mechanics in Borderlands 4 comes in the form of Firmware, which are essentially set bonuses that add up based on the number of pieces in your possession, maxing out at three per set. These set bonuses are some of the best things you can tweak to round out your character build to perfection. Applicable to five pieces of gear in total, it is possible to run a three plus two combination of Firmware bonuses for maximum benefit.

This Borderlands 4 guide is a complete listing of all Firmware and their set bonuses. The best general purpose Firmware are recommended in bold.

Find all of Vault Key Fragments easily by first locating every single Silo with this Borderlands 4 guide.

Order Silos are side activities in Borderlands 4 which serve as fast travel points of interest, but more importantly, can be used to generally mark the location of Vault Key Fragments on the map. With three Vault Key Fragments to be found in each major region on the rim of Dominion city, broken up between a Silo each, you would otherwise be hard pressed to find all of them just by exploration.

This Borderlands 4 guide is a complete listing of all Order Silo locations to be found in Kairos.

Speed up your leveling game by farming lots of XP fast with this comprehensive guide for Borderlands 4.

Leveling up in Borderlands 4 is essential to quickly unlocking the endgame content where the most enjoyable aspects of the game can be found. Grinding for XP is nothing new, but it does help to know what works and what does not for maximum efficiency.

This Borderlands 4 guide is all about farming XP quickly and efficiently with minimal effort.

Story Mode

You can always return to side content later at your leisure, so it is recommended that you breeze through the campaign as quickly as you can, in order to open up as much of the map as possible while reaping the large windfalls of XP from completing story quests.

Balancing Enemy Level

For maximum value of your time, target enemies in the open world that are only a little more powerful than your character at any given moment, rather than wasting time on either bullet-sponge high-level enemies, or pushover low-level ones.

Ideal Locations

Densely populated activities such as the Order Bunkers, Propaganda Speakers, and Ripper Drill Sites are the best places to mow down plentiful numbers of enemies in a short span of time, without having to trek too far around the world in order to find them.

Unbalanced Co-op

If you can match up with players of a significantly higher level than you, then you will have the benefit of their increased firepower being brought to bear against enemies of a level similar to your own, and which would have normally taken longer to dispatch just by yourself.

Bounties

If you happen to be at a Safehouse, be sure to pick up a few bounties off of the board as you continue on your exploration of the map. You will be killing enemies one way or another, so you might as well pick up an XP reward bonus for your trouble.

Events

As you proceed on your path of progression, world events including the bubble-dome Rifts will start to appear. If you happen to stumble upon one, be sure to take it on for its rewards, but also be well prepared for the enhanced challenge that it presents compared to open world enemy encounters.

Boss Farming

Resetting bosses is a new mechanic that facilitates farming them for their rewards as you continue to tweak and improve your build. With enough repetition you will be ripping them apart quicker on successive runs.

Those are all the best ways to quickly farm XP in order to level up fast in Borderlands 4.

The first new Vault Hunter in Gearbox's looter shooter arrives alongside the first Story Pack, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned.

Gearbox Entertainment has revealed the new Vault Hunter coming to Borderlands 4 in its first Story Pack, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. Contrary to the naming, it isn’t Ellie but a newcomer named C4SH. Check out his teaser below.

There’s also an image of his “kit” at the end, though it hints more at Action Skills and Skill Trees than actually providing details. The dual weaponry adds to the gunslinger aesthetic, but there’s also a hint of necromancy (which is interesting, given Vex’s whole summoning playstyle).

Regardless of what his playstyle ends up being, we’ll have to wait until Q1 2026 when the Story Pack drops. Alongside C4SH, it includes a dark cosmic horror story, a new region on Kairos, side missions, Legendaries, skins, and more. In the same window, Bounty Pack 2 will also become available along with Pearlescent Rarity items. Head here for more details.

Borderlands 4 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC – check out our review here. It was slated to launch next week on the Nintendo Switch 2 but has since been delayed.
