Three new locations and challenges will be added, and players can choose to undertake climbing expeditions as Marco instead of Aava.

Following its monumental success, The Game Bakers’ Cairn will receive some free DLC in the Summer called On the Trail. As a series of new content updates, the first, On the Trail: Deep Water, will introduce new locations centered around water (in case it wasn’t obvious). Check out the announcement trailer below.

The DLC will eventually add three new areas to climb, following a “legendary climber,” and water soloing. Now you can finally climb over water, and falling into it will no longer guarantee a sudden death. Players can also choose to play as Marco, Aava’s overzealous agent, and attempt to conquer Mt. Kami.

As always, more details are needed, so stay tuned in the meantime. Cairn is currently available for PS5 and PC, and has sold over 500,000 copies as of last month. You can read our review here – we gave it a nine out of ten, praising the climbing and survival mechanics alongside the presentation, though performance on PS5 could occasionally chug.

There’s no word yet on whether The Game Bakers is targeting other platforms, specifically Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S. However, given that its previous titles, Furi and Haven, supported multiple platforms, it’s not outside the realm of possibility.
