Community aspects.

It looks like for the first time in years, Call of Duty is trying new things. Some people might say that it’s still not trying enough new things, but the fact that it is at least stepping outside of the strict structure the series has been following for years cannot be disputed. One of ways it looks to be doing that is how Call of Duty: WWII will handle community aspects, and apparently, the game takes cues from World of Warcraft in that area.

In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Sledgehammer boss and co-founder Michael Condrey went into some detail about Headquarters, and how the feature derives inspirations from World of Warcraft’s Orgrimmar. “Remember the first time you went to Orgrimmar in World of Warcraft?” Condrey said. “Remember that first time experience when you did your quest and you leveled up and you earned all these great rewards and then you walked into Orgrimmar and it was a bustling city of people with all these activities that made it a community, whether it was the guy who was just showing off his max rank, all purple mounts or people going to mail, or people gifting each other things? That sense of community was something we felt Call of Duty hadn’t capitalized on yet. That’s what our attempt with Headquarters is.”

Condrey then went on to talk about just what kinda of quests and rewards this feature will entail. “Your divisions officer may say, hey, it’s time for you to head into battle,” he said. “Go compete in War and be successful, bring back that success and we’ll give you a reward. Some will be social quests. It might be a quest that sends you to the Nazi zombies experience, or compete in the 1v1 or create your first emblem.”

It definitely seems like the game’s community and online aspects could benefit a great deal from Headquarters, which seems like a neat little hub area for the game. The idea of daily quests being handed to you for actual, tangible awards from the area also seems like an interesting prospect. It remains to be seen just how well this neat idea will be executed though. We remain optimistic for now.

Time to get hyped.

Call of Duty: WWII looks like just the sort of game the series so desperately needed, and if the final product will be as good as it looks right now, we’re in for a great game. In anticipation of the game’s upcoming launch, Sledgehammer Games recently held a livestream in which they spoke of a number of things related to the game. Thanks to this livestream, we now have a bunch of new information for the game.

One of the most notable pieces of information about the game in the past few weeks was that it would include playable female soldiers. When asked in the livestream if this was historically accurate, given the World War II setting, Sledgehammer noted that there were a lot of female soldiers in the French resistance during the war. It’s been confirmed that female soldiers will be playable in missions during the campaign, in the co-op zombies mode, and in online multiplayer.

Historical accuracy is also something Call of Duty: WWII is much more concerned with than you’d expect it to be. Sledgehammer said in the video that while the game will be looking to achieve the same cinematic blockbuster feel that the series has become synonymous with, they’re also going to try to be as historically accurate as possible. They also want to do the World War II setting justice. “It’s important to show what WW2 was like,” they say.

Sledgehammer have also confirmed that the Battle of Bulge will be featured in the game’s campaign. The Battle of Bulge the final major German offensive campaign during World War II and resulted in over 170,000 casualties. Seeing the horrific battle brought to life in the game should be interesting, to say the least.

Call of Duty: WWII is out in November for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Stay tuned for more updates.

Thanks, Fenix Bazaar!

Call of Duty 2017 hasn’t actually been announced yet, so we do not know- officially- just what kind of a game it will be. However, thanks to leaks, we do know that it seems like the series is going back to its World War II roots. Developers Sledgehammer, it seems, are quite excited to share information on the game with us.

They recently posted a blog on Activision’s official website, talking about construction going on in their studio building that will see them expanding, and in that blog, they said that this year’s Call of Duty title will be their biggest project to date. “This year, we will release our biggest game-making project to date,” they wrote. “We are extremely excited to reveal it to the world and to you, our HammerHeads.

“With an incredible team of talented developers and hard-working innovators, all that’s left in the equation is a workspace that matches the level of excellence that Hammers strive towards,” they continued, referring to the expansion of their studio building. “Sawing through floors and cutting out chunks to make way for the creative vision we’ve had for our studio has been an exciting and rewarding experience. And our devs are loving the new changes so far.”

“The game is moving full-speed ahead, and so is construction,” they finished.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more updates on Call of Duty.

As per job ad.

It seems like Sledgehammer Games are putting an extra amount of effort into the visuals department for this year’s Call of Duty instalment. As per a job ad posted for the developer on Activision’s official website, they’re looking for an “associate environment artist”, and if you take a gander at the requirements and the responsibilities of the role, it might give you a hint of what they’re aiming for.

The job ad says Sledgehammer are looking for someone for the job who “can build and texture awe inspiring environments” and has “a passion for creating game art.” One of the duties and responsibilities for the person applying for the job would be to “create believable, photo-realistic 3D models and textures from concept art and photo reference.”

Another responsibility mentioned is that the applicant is able to “assemble, edit, and optimize highly detailed 3D environments.” Gives you a pretty good idea of what Sledgehammer want 2017’s Call of Duty to be, at least visually speaking. For more updates, stay tuned to GamingBolt.

That's a pretty impressive lineup.

The Xbox One Scorpio is no stranger to being in the headlines, and it definitely feels like after this new information, it will be once again. Microsoft have planned a very impressive lineup of games to showcase the 4K resolution capabilities on “Project Scorpio”, and a number of both major first party titles and third party titles will be running in 4K resolution on the console.

This information comes via Windows Central, through marketing materials that list the games Microsoft wants to use to showcase the Scorpio’s 4K capabilities. The most notable one, perhaps, is Forza Motorsport 7, which Microsoft plans on unveiling soon. The Forza series has always been a stunner when it comes to the visuals department, and it seems like the perfect headliner for something like this.

Other major first party titles include State of Decay 2 and Crackdown 3, but there’s also a number of third party titles in the lineup. You have everything from FIFA 18 and Madden NFL 18 to Call of Duty 2017, with some other major ones in the form of Red Dead Redemption 2 and DICE’s Star Wars Battlefront 2. The prospect of playing Red Dead Redemption 2, more than most, on glorious 4K is practically mouth watering.

As usual take this report with a grain of salt but Windows Central has a good track record. Are there any other game’s you’d like to see included in this lineup? Tell us in your comments below.

We’re sure you’ve heard the recent news that with Call of Duty 2017, Sledgehammer Games are taking the series back to its roots– a World War 2 setting. Sure, it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, and till such time that it is, we can’t be certain that that will be the case, but it seems like the leaks and the reports are quite authentic, and for now, we’re all assuming that a World War II setting is a certainty for the upcoming Call of Duty.

Professional YouTuber Ali-A recently tweeted a “thank you” message directed at Sledgehammer Games for sending him an official merchandise jacket. In the tweet he also said he cannot wait to see what Sledgehammer Games do with this year’s Call of Duty title. Michael Condrey, the CEO and co-founder of Sledgehammer, was quick to respond, saying that there are plenty of surprises ahead for Call of Duty plans.

He offered to reveal some of them, before jokingly saying that if he did so, Sledgehammer Games would kill him, but then quipped that it “might be worth it” anyway. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more updates on all things Call of Duty.

Recently, promotional images were leaked for Sledgehammer’s upcoming Call of Duty 2017 that seemed to suggest that for the first time since 2008’s Treyarch developed World at War, the series will be returning to a World War II setting. This is, of course, in line with earlier reports that the game was going to go back to the series’ traditions. What’s interesting, though, is that it seems Sledgehammer have been teasing this setting for their upcoming shooter for a long time- since Advanced Warfare first came out, in fact.

As far back as April of 2016, Michael Condrey, who is the studio head and co-founder of Sledgehammer Games, wrote in his Twitter bio that among other games, he’s working on “Call of Duty ####“, in which case the four symbols probably mean “WWII”. A bit of a stretch? Not if these rumours turn out to be true.

What’s more, while supporting Advanced Warfare, Sledgehammer Games released several new guns through Supply Drops in the game, such as the MP40, the M1 Garand, and the M1911, all three of which are noticeable old weapons that can be related to the WWII era.

Stay tuned for more updates.

More info via another job ad.

Sledgehammer Games have been posting plenty of job ads on Activision’s official website recently, and through them, we’ve been able to piece together some much needed info on the upcoming Call of Duty 2017– which remains officially unannounced so far. These job ads have spoken about everything from character design to technical visuals, and now we have another one of these job ads that talks about sound design.

As per the ad, Sledgehammer Games are looking for a senior sound designer who will presumably work with them on this year’s iteration of the Call of Duty franchise.

“Sledgehammer Games is looking for a passionate and experienced game Sound Designer to help create a fresh new AAA aural experience for our next project,” the ad says. As per the ad, the person who gets the job will “be involved in virtually every aspect of game audio content development alongside one of the most passionate and experienced audio teams in the industry.”

There’s been little info on Call of Duty 2017 so far, but we expect to hear something from Activision and Sledgehammer soon enough, going by their annual announcement patterns. So stay tuned to GamingBolt for more updates.

"High quality and detailed character designs."

Sledgehammer are working on this year’s annual instalment of Call of Duty, and while we know little about the game right now, owing to the fact that it has not yet been officially revealed, we have been getting snippets of information here and there. There is, for instance, a job ad up on Activision’s official website right now that seems to hint at the fact that the guys at Sledgehammer Games are looking for people to work on the character design aspect of the game.

Sledgehammer are looking for someone to work “as a key member of the Character art team to create high quality and detailed character designs”. One of their job requirements is to “create awesome characters that are efficient, built to scale and satisfy budgetary requirements.”

This is line with something else we reported last week- apparently, Sledgehammer are also looking to hire someone to work on realistic and believable character animations. Read about it here.

Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more updates on Call of Duty.

Sledgehammer focusing on "realistic human animation."

There’s an all new ad for a job vacancy over at Call of Duty 2017 developers Sledgehammer Games on Activision’s official website, and it seems to suggest that the developer is looking for its upcoming as of yet unannounced game to feature the best-in-class animations.

“We are in search of an Associate Animator to create in-game and cinematic animations of the absolute highest quality,” the job ad says. “We’re only interested in the best of the best character animators – if you’re creating the most complex, believable, human animations in a timely manner, then we want you.

“Applicants must have at least two years’ experience in character animation for games and a strong understanding of traditional animation fundamentals, with a focus on realistic human animation.”

The developers have been talking quite a lot about the upcoming Call of Duty, but as of yet, we don’t really have any proper information about the game. However, that might soon change, at least if the development team has it its way. So stay tuned, and we will keep you updated on any new information that comes our way.
