This wouldn’t be the first time that internal builds for alpha testing are going live for a Call of Duty game under codenames. Last year, for instance, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War went live with similar builds under the codename “The Red Door”– and that happened pretty much around the same time, so there’s that as well.

Leaks suggest that this year’s CoD is going to be called Call of Duty: Vanguard and will be set during the Second World War. Allegedly, it’s going to use Modern Warfare (2019)’s IW8 engine, unlike Black Ops Cold War. Activision has confirmed that true to the leaks, Sledgehammer Games is leading development on the shooter.

Surprising no one, Activision recently confirmed that Q4 2021 would see the release of another mainline premium Call of Duty game. Rumours have suggested that Sledgehammer Games – developers of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Call of Duty: WW2 – would be helming the development of this year’s game again. Now, we might also have a clearer idea of what the game’s setting will be.

As reported by Charlie Intel, over on Twitter, known Call of Duty leaker @Victor_Z seems to be suggesting that the next game will be set during the Second World War once again, with a picture of Sledgehammer’s WW2, along with a hammer emoji, seemingly referring to the developer’s name.

Call of Duty has tackled multiple settings over the years, and the past few years have seen it going from the Second World War to Vietnam to a modern day setting to even a futuristic sci-fi setting. The last World War 2 in the game was Sledgehammer’s own WW2 in 2017.

This is unverified information, of course, so take this with a grain of salt for now. We’ll let you know about any new info that comes our way, so stay tuned.

Activision’s Call of Duty franchise continues to excel with over 100 million monthly active users across numerous titles last year. While the company will roll out content for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone, it has a new premium title coming this year. Said release is planned for Q4 2021, as per chief financial officer Dennis Durkin in a conference call for the company’s Q4 financial results.

Such a revelation is unsurprising, considering that Call of Duty is on a yearly release cycle. “Q4 2021” implies that it could release between October 1st and December 31st this year but it’s likely, as always, that the sequel will arrive by November at the latest. This is in order to take advantage of holiday and Christmas sales.

The real question is whether the next title will also be integrated into Warzone. For that matter, will it be a follow-up to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare or a brand title in the series? Time will tell so stay tuned for more details in the coming months.

Cyberpunk 2077

This one seems the most obvious for a number of different reasons. First, it’s a perspective that CD Projekt RED is well-versed in, though it would require major changes to combat given how it differs from The Witcher 3. Second, it provides a deeper connection to one’s personal V since you can actually see all the cosmetic choices made. Third, if features like wall-running and sticking to walls with Mantis Blades ever get added back in, they’d work pretty well in third-person (like the original design was intended to be). It’d be a lot of work but may probably feel better to play at the end of the day.
