July is almost over, believe it or not, and like all months, it’s about that time for your various subscription services for gaming to roll over into the next month. One of those is Sony’s PS Plus, which is offering quite the duo of titles for August.

As announced via the official PlayStation blog, the two titles consist of one of the biggest shooters of all time and an upcoming indie title. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is a redone version of the beloved shooter’s campaign that was released earlier in the year. Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is a competitive online free-for-all or co-op title from the always quirky folks at Devolver Digital where you must win races among 60 other players.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered will be available to all PS Plus members starting tomorrow, and Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout will be available to download August 4th. Both games will be free to PS Plus users until August 31st.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has taken the world by storm, having sold 13.41 million units within six weeks of launch, and even blowing past any sales forecasts Nintendo had for it, and according to SuperData, the life sim title continued to enjoy strong digital sales in April 2020. After a 27 drop in digital sales from March, the game sold a total of 3.6 million digital units worldwide in April, and has already become the highest selling Switch game – in terms of digital sales and in terms of digital revenue – of all time. In fact, no other games sold as many digital copies during April as Animal Crossing did.

Other major releases also saw strong digital sales in April. Final Fantasy 7 Remake reportedly sold 2.2 million digital units over the month, aided greatly by how hard it’s been for people to get their hands on physical copies (which is true for all games, in fact). It also broke Marvel’s Spider-Man’s record to become the PS4 exclusive with the highest digital sales at launch.

Then there’s Resident Evil 3, Capcom’s survival horror remake. With 1.3 million units sold, it sold nearly as many digital copies in April as Resident Evil 2 did in its own launch month of January 2020. Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered also impressed with 3.4 million digital copies sold in April, which is particularly noteworthy because it was exclusive to the PS4 throughout the month.

After a month of waiting, Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is now available for Xbox One and PC players. The remaster of Infinity Ward’s 2009 classic features massively improved visuals, though the multiplayer component is missing. Check out the trailer below.

Released initially for PS4, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered follows the tale of Task Force 141 as they combat extremist leader Vladimir Makarov. This quickly escalates into a conflict of global proportions with betrayals, shock twists and so on. The remaster has been handled by Beenox and sports better animation, improved texture resolution and more.

Along with 4K resolution and HDR support on consoles, the PC version has access to higher frame rates and ultrawide monitor support. As for the lack of multiplayer, this decision was made to prevent the community from being split (especially with Call of Duty: Warzone recently being released as a free to play title). Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Remastered is also apparently in the pipeline as per rumors so stay tuned in the coming months.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered has been available on the PS4 for a good month now. Xbox One and PC players, on the other hand, will finally get their crack at the wild and wacky campaign remake tomorrow. Until then, the game can be pre-loaded on either platform for those who pre-ordered.

The remaster has been handled by Beenox and only includes the single-player campaign from the 2009 classic. You’ll be fighting in Favelas, hunting down Makarov for atrocities committed, somehow drawn into a new World War and all kinds of other mischief. Though considered a remaster, the graphics have been heavily revamped.

HDR and 4K resolution support, ultrawide support on PC, improved texture resolution and details, remastered audio and much more await fans.
