Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is out now for PS4. What should have been a shadow drop was spoiled through key art and trailer leaks but it’s here now and that’s all the matters. Except it’s currently available only for PS4 players. Xbox One and PC players have to wait till April 30th but can currently pre-purchase the title.

Only the campaign is included in the package and sees players working with Task Force 141 to hunt down Vladimir Makarov, who’s committing atrocities around the globe. Of course, the conflict eventually escalates to a global scale. Check out the trailer below for some brief snippets.

Handled by Beenox, the remaster has better texture resolution and details, improved animation and redone audio among other enhancements. It also supports HDR and up to 4K resolution on consoles with the PC version having ultrawide support and higher frame rates. Following rumors and datamined key art, not to mention a report about its imminent release, the trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered has leaked. It showcases several missions and key events from the original, except with improved graphics. Check it out below.

A listing for the game has also appeared on the PlayStation Store in Germany, which further confirms that only the game’s campaign is included (if the name didn’t already give it away). The game itself will retail for €24.99 and is 47 GB in size. Along with improved textures and animations, graphical features like physical rendering and HDR lighting have been included.

Purchasing the remaster will also net the Underwater Demo Team Classic Ghost Bundle, which can be used in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) or Call of Duty: Warzone. Even though Activision have made no such announcement yet, it’s looking extremely likely that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered will be arriving sooner rather than later. After already having been the subject of a couple of rumours and leaks in the past few weeks, before then having been handed an age rating by the South Koreans ratings board, even more irrefutable evidence of its existence has now emerged.

Via datamining of the latest files of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare after its latest update (via Reddit), key art for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered has been spotted (take a look below). And in line with previous reports, the key art makes it clear that this remaster is only going to cover the 2009 game’s single player campaign (at least for now).

Meanwhile, the folks over at Charlie Intel have also found a description for the release in the game’s files, and it seems like there’s multiple ways to go about purchasing it. It reads, “Purchase Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered and receive the Underwater Demo Team Classic Ghost Bundle OR Purchase the Ghost Pack: Oil Rig Bundle to receive Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered.”
