So much for that authenticity, right Activision?

With Call of Duty: WW2, developers Sledgehammer Games and publishers Activision insist that the game is meant to be a realistic, authentic, and accurate take on the most tragic war in human history, that saw tens of millions of people die around the world, and ideological genocide occur on a hitherto unprecedented scale.

To recreate this devastation and horror, they will have the loot boxes in the game (because of course there are loot boxes in the game) drop for you on to Normandy (the game’s social hub) right in front of other players- and as you open them, the animations will, again, be visible for other players, too (via Reddit). I remember when randomized loot boxes governed by RNG or how much money I paid a game publisher helped the Allied Powers win the Second World War. Those were good times.

Of course, on Activision’s part, this is a smart and manipulative move- by showing other players the loot that a player is getting from loot crates, they are essentially subtly nudging them into spending money on loot crates themselves. And, of course, in the process, they are also recreating World War 2 authentically.

Two of the biggest shooters confirmed to receive enhancements on Xbox One X.

The exact status of whether or not Activision’s shooters, Call of Duty: World War 2 and Destiny 2, would be getting Xbox One X enhancements has been up in the air so far. The problem is that the games have exclusive marketing deals with Sony, so Xbox versions are rarely even acknowledged- the question of Xbox One X enhancements, which would theoretically make the Xbox versions of those games better than their PlayStation counterparts, is out of the question entirely in such a scenario.

However, it seems like Xbox One X enhancements for both games are now confirmed. TrueAchievements has posted a list of the leading games from this year that will have One X enhancements, and these include Destiny 2 and Call of Duty: World War 2. This was then followed by a confirmation by the site’s owner.

The exact nature of the enhancements is still unknown- in fact, we may never learn of them from Activision, and may have to rely on analyses and breakdowns. But Xbox fans will doubtless be happy to know that they will be able to play the best looking versions of the biggest shooters on the market.

Fans are in for a major treat.

A rather extensive data mine of Call of Duty: WW2‘s PC version beta has revealed some interesting information about the game. This includes scorestreaks for the game (of which, 12 out of 18 were playable in the beta), emotes, camos, and even a Theater Mode has been referenced, which would bring back a fan favorite option to the series.

Now, remember, jut because something is in the code, it does not mean that it will be in the final game, too- features are often culled during development, and Sledgehammer Games has openly confirmed that there are many inaccuracies in here. Nonetheless, if these details are indicative of what fans can expect from the final game, it sounds like they might be in for a treat.

In addition to all the things mentioned above, we also get a look at some details about the Headquarters mode, including the kinds of events and loot that may be offered to players. Obviously, this is putting together very rough pieces of a puzzle very roughly- but it is better than nothing, at any rate.

Call of Duty: WW2 launches on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC in November. Check out the details of the leak, as well as screenshots, below. And remember to take this all with a healthy helping of salt.

PC versions of Call of Duty haven’t been quite as popular as the console versions in a very long time now (despite the franchise originating as a PC exclusive series to begin with); as a result, they often get overrun with hackers and cheaters, who end up ruining the fun for players who do want to play.

That will hopefully not be the case with the upcoming Call of Duty: World War 2. In a blog post, developers Sledgehammer Games confirmed that the complaints regarding the rampant cheating in the beta of the PC version of the game were legitimate, because the beta did not launch with any of the anti-cheating and hacking techniques that will be implemented into the final game. Presumably, Sledgehammer is sitting on those to not tip their hand to hackers.

Let’s just hope that dubious anti-piracy measures, such as Denuvo, aren’t thrown into the mix as part of the package with this justification. Call of Duty: World War 2 launches this November on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

But, of course, there is a catch.

When you think of classic Call of Duty, what do you think? Many of the fan’s earliest fans, a number of whom might have lost interest in the games long ago, presumably after the recent games marked a paradigm shift in the series’ direction and focus, probably think back to the original three games and maybe World at War– the World War 2 era focused games, with multiple campaigns to play through, and a fun, grounded multiplayer mode.

Activision and Sledgehammer will be tipping their hat to that era of Call of Duty games, and fans, with this gesture- the Carentan map, which debuted all the way back in the original Call of Duty, before it was also featured in Call of Duty 2, as well as United Offensive, will be returning in the upcoming World War 2.

But Activision will be Activision, and so, what might have been a nice gesture for long time fans, and an acknowledgement of the series’ humble roots, has turned into a money grab- Carentan will only be available to those who purchase the Season Pass, either by itself, or as a part of the Pro and Digital Deluxe Editions. Classy, guys.

Call of Duty: World War 2 launches this November for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Obviously, Xbox One X enhancements were not confirmed.

The upcoming Call of Duty: World War 2 will leverage the extra power and hardware resources within Sony’s PS4 Pro console, developers Sledgehammer Games have confirmed. The extra power will be put towards be put towards enhanced visual fidelity, Sledgehammer Games’ Michael Condrey confirmed in an interview with OPM UK.

That is par for the course for just about every PS4 game that gets PS4 Pro enhancements- but Connery also mentioned that the HQ mode in the game, which will act as the central social hub, will benefit from the PS4 Pro’s extra power, though he declined to go into more details about how exactly.

“The new facial system, the new animation system, the new rendering physics system, [PS4] all brings that to life. This power, you know, we’re taking full advantage of the PS4 Pro and everything it’s doing to really bring that fidelity out,” he said. “It’s also evident in Headquarters, he explains, with the 48-player space also taking advantage of what the supercharged console can do.”

Naturally, owing to Sony’s marketing deal for the game, any Xbox One X enhancements and improvements (presuming they actually do exist) were not confirmed or even mentioned- hopefully, however, Sledgehammer does end up leveraging Microsoft’s supercharged console, too. it would be a shame if what is anticipated to be the biggest game of the year didn’t take advantage of the most powerful console ever made.

Thanks, WccfTech.

Expect the beta to be tuned to PC's strengths.

Call of Duty: World War 2 is one of the most anticipated Call of Duty games in year- which will happen when the franchise, long having lost a fair few fans due to the science fiction inspired future warfare setting it took over the last few games, returns to its World War 2 roots.

This means that there are many on all platforms who are probably eager to get their hands on the game to try it out for themselves. While PS4 owners have already had that chance, PC owners get it soon. And when they do, they will find a beta that is extremely optimized for all the benefits PC offers them.

This includes support for 4K and ultra-wide resolutions, as well as extremely high frame rates, going up to 250 FPS. The beta will additionally feature an FOV slider, as well as controller support. The final game will apparently include support for HDR displays too, but that feature has not made it into the beta. The beta will also lack aim assist, as the developers want to try and fine tune the keyboard and mouse controls.

Call of Duty: World War 2 is due out this November, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Later this year, Call of Duty: World War 2 will mark a return of the series to its history inspired roots- at least as far as the setting goes. Among the many things the classic Call of Duty games were known for were having memorable squad mates who would lead you through your campaigns (plural, because back in the day, the games would actually have more than one campaign).

Now, as part of their promise to share more information about the game’s story mode once a day every day for the rest of the month, Sledgehammer Games has released a bunch of brand new videos teasing the squadmates who will accompany you in this game’s campaign.

You can check all of these teaser videos out below. Call of Duty: World War 2 is due out on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 3. Thoughts? Let us know in the comments section below.

We were promised a story trailer for Call of Duty: World War 2 today- and we have gotten one. The trailer focuses on the campaign of the game, which follows the story of Private Ronald “Red” Daniels, a farm boy who joins the First Infantry Division when World War 2 breaks out.

The trailer tries its best to tug at our heartstrings- and while I admit that the final campaign will be something special if it ends up living up to the tone that is being hinted at in this trailer, I don’t currently have any reason to believe that that will actually happen- Call of Duty campaigns are known to be bombastic and over the top. There is nothing wrong with that, mind you! But it does make me wonder why Activision and Sledgehammer are insisting that we take this change in tone on face value.

That said, they will definitely continue in their attempts to win us over- we will be getting new information on the game’s story mode every day until the end of the month. Let’s hope that we aren’t spoiled on everything it has to offer.

But hey, you get 1TB of storage space!

Call of Duty: World War 2 is likely to be the biggest game of this year. So obviously, having an exclusive console bundle with it is bound to be a huge win, right? Ordinarily, I would agree- but when the console bundle includes a themed console as hideous as this PS4 Slim that was just announced, I would argue it might even be a detriment.

My personal opinions on how the bundle and console look aside, it sounds like a good deal- for $300, you get the (themed) console, a (themed) controller, a copy of the game, and 1TB of storage space. Which is actually a really, really good deal all around.

Of course, you would also, in turn, have to put up with how bad the console looks (it’s a travesty, although the controller seems to look fine), so… you win some, you lose some? Call of Duty: World War 2 launches on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC this November.
