Some of the environments, including the tall spires separated by a bridge in shambles and a run down satellite, look fairly nice. The various enemy and dinosaur types (THREE kinds of raptors) also look great. With such expansive environments and enemy types, could it have been an open world title? We’ll never know for sure now.

Turok 2 was seemingly meant to carry on the story from Propaganda Games’ reboot. The first game didn’t fare all that well commercially or critically, but seeing some of the concept art, it’s a shame that we never got to see the game take some kind of form before it was cancelled. What are your thoughts? Would you like to see Turok 2 revived for the next generation of consoles?

These are certainly bleak times for the Blue Bomber. What was once Capcom’s poster boy has has now faded into obscurity. With the exception of the downloadable releases that were Mega Man 8 & Mega Man 9, our favorite blue bomber has hardly made an impact this gen. The cancellation of Mega Man Universe was only the first blow, and now Capcom has struck another nail in the coffin. Today, the publisher has announced that the development of the MMORPG Mega Man Online has officially halted.

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise since we’ve hardly heard anything since its debut in 2010. The game was being developed in conjunction with Korean team Neowiz Games, and the decision was mutual.

“Both companies have continually discussed to find agreeable points on quality, development time, communication and etc,” said a Neowiz representative. “Ultimately, both companies have agreed to stop the development of Rock Man Online early last November.”

Interestingly enough, the developer had claimed that the project was nearing the final stages of development. So it still remains a mystery why they made a decision to throw away over two years of progress. Although the prospect of a Mega Man MMO wasn’t exactly enthralling, this is a further testament that Capcom shows little interest in the franchise that put them on the map.

IP rights have been returned to del Toro and it’s unknown exactly how far into development Volition were up until this point.

THQ have also abandoned mobile and casual ambitions for the time being, Jason Rubin, THQ’s President stated, “By canceling these explorations outside of our core business, we feel we can improve focus on our core game portfolio, which remains unchanged.”

Let’s hope Insane gets picked up by someone else as a horror game directed by a bonafide horror director. Please.

I have to admit, I was looking forward to this game, but alas! Seems like I won’t be able to play this game this gen. Richard Bunn, an ex-Sony employee, who worked on the game, let out some juicy details about the game to Eurogamer. The game along with Getaway 3 was put on hold to fund Eyepet and the likes, for reasons unknown.

The impressive looking third-person shooter was unveiled at Sony E3 press conference, and Phil Harrison, ex-president of Sony WWS really put this game on a pedestal.

It was going to have online co-op,” said Bunn. The entire concept behind the game was based around buddy gameplay. Imagine Uncharted, where you have two Nathan Drakes, and you can cover swap between each other and chuck ammo between each other. That was pretty much the game.

We fully intended to have online co-op support. No multiplayer, but online co-op. We definitely didn’t have any plans to do multiplayer modes. The game was looking spectacular,” Bunn continued. “A lot of what was shown off publicly had a bit of a mixed review. But what was going on in-house at the time was looking quite spectacular.

I designed a new opening level for them. My goal there was to make the opening level every bit as good as something you would see in a cinematic game. We had that fully playable in prototype form and it was jaw dropping. It was exceedingly good. All of the other level designers on the team were doing great work.

You can check out the E3 2006 gameplay video below. Please tell us in the comments section as to how you feel about this decision from Sony. You can read more about the game here.

Mirror’s Edge 2’s development has been “stopped” by EA.

According to a Eurogamer Sweden translation of a Press 2 Play TV report, the small team at DICE, who were working on the sequel of 2009, parkour-inspired FPS title, showed a prototype to EA and it was “rejected”.

The project hence got stopped and the dev team comprising of DICE members has moved on to another project. Apparently, ther’re now helping the core DICE team developing Battlefield 3 as EA wants to ensure that it can ship out the best possible game in order to compete with the Call of Duties.

It’s unlikely that a sequel will get the green light from EA anytime soon and the ill-fated First Person Shooter, which inspite of receiving broad critical acclaim, failed to do well commercially won’t get a second chance of redeeming itself.

One reader told us that when he asked a Gamestop employee, he replied that they were not holding a midnight launch since they thought that the game is not big on hype and there’s not enough to demand to merit a midnight launch.

Other retailers, such as Gamestation and Game think otherwise thankfully and are going forward with midnight launches for the game.

Let us know if the Gamestop outlets in your city have ditched midnight launch for GT 5 aswell. Suprising news this.
