In response to Tyler McVicker's latest video on the same, the company says "he has no inside information about what goes on at Valve."

It wouldn’t be a year without rumors on a new Half-Life. It’s apparently called Citadel as per Tyler McVicker on YouTube and would be a co-op FPS/RTS hybrid with Left 4 Dead and Half-Life serving as influences. This was apparently meant to bolster the Steam Deck. Also, Half-Life 3 isn’t in development because of course it isn’t.

However, in a statement to IGN, Valve revealed that McVicker had “no inside information” on the developer’s inner workings. “It’s good to view [Valve News Network content creator Tyler McVicker’s] coverage with a healthy dose of skepticism. We think it’s important to reiterate that while Tyler is a passionate gamer, he has no inside information about what goes on at Valve. As you know, any important announcements on projects that we are or aren’t working on will come directly from us.”

Though it didn’t outright deny the existence of Citadel, this could be viewed more as Valve telling fans not to get their hopes up over reports and rumors. If any hype must be generated, then it should be in the wake of official announcements, at least according to the company.

Valve hasn’t outright abandoned the Half-Life franchise – the release of Half-Life: Alyx last year for PC VR headsets is proof of the same. But trying to predict where the franchise could go and when a potential sequel could release is borderline impossible. Nevertheless, stay tuned in the meantime.

It's been claimed that in a bid to bolster the Steam Deck, Valve is currently working on a co-op FPS/RTS hybrid based on Half-Life called Citadel.

For all the change that the games industry has gone through, one thing that has remained constant is people demanding a full-fledged Half-Life 3, and Valve doing little to nothing in response to those demands. After the 2020 launch of the excellent Half-Life: Alyx, many assumed that a new numbered game in the series was (at long last) inevitable – especially given how Alyx ends – but it would appear that that’s not quite the case.

In a video uploaded recently by noted Valve insider Tyler McVicker, it’s been claimed that a Half-Life 3 is currently not in development at Valve. According to McVicker, Valve is putting the bulk of its focus on the Steam Deck, which, it seems, is promising greater success than Valve had expected. As such, the company is focused primarily on pushing the device further.

Interestingly, as part of the company’s bid to bolster the Steam Deck, one game that Valve is said to be working on is a project called Citadel. According to McVicker, this is a co-op FPS/RTS hybrid based on Half-Life, with Left 4 Dead and Alien Swarm also said to be influences on the game.

As is the case with any leak, take this one with a grain of salt- but Half-Life fans sadly wouldn’t be surprised if Valve was indeed deciding not to finally make a direct long-anticipated sequel to Half-Life 2: Episode Two.

The Steam Deck, meanwhile, was recently delayed, and is now set to launch in select regions of the world in February 2022.

Okay, maybe just a little.

But seriously, it’s hard not to get all teary-eyed when looking at the trailer for the final single-player DLC pack for Mass Effect 3, Citadel. Due to release on March 5th for Xbox 360, PC and PS3, it features some awesome action, new settings and lots of new missions.

More importantly, it’s the farewell tour and Bioware knows it. Every crew member is on hand for the DLC, and you’ll even see older friends make appearances. Did we mention the sweet crib that Shepard gets? Or the reference to The Joker from The Dark Knight? Of course, that’s not counting the alternate costumes, romance options and much more.

It’s almost a bit too much. But it is “one last adventure”, and looks to be the best single-player DLC pack till date for Mass Effect 3. Shepard may or may not die – depending on which ending you subscribe to – but his legacy and that of Bioware will live forever.

Remember: You need both packs to play the game.

Mass Effect 3: Citadel will be released on March 5th for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. However, before you embark on your partying and Spectre-killing ways, Bioware has released a helpful FAQ for Xbox 360 gamers detailing how to download the DLC.

“The Citadel DLC pack will come as 2 downloads on Xbox Live. ME3 Citadel is larger than our previous DLC packs, so it had to be split into 2 downloads. The first pack is priced at $14.99 and the second pack is tagged as free. Players need to purchase and download pack 1, then download pack 2 at no additional cost.”

It also helpfully iterated that, “you can download pack 2 without purchasing pack one, but the DLC will not work”. So, don’t try it? The DLC will be a single download for PC and PS3 however.

The Citadel DLC will be priced at $14.99/1200 Microsoft Points and is the final single-player DLC for Mass Effect 3.

Do everything short of killing Reapers. Which is kinda funny in retrospect.

Bioware is determined to let the final DLC package “Citadel” for its hit action RPG Mass Effect 3 to go out with a bang. And while this recently revealed Achievements list for the game doesn’t give us an exact idea of what to expect, there are a few hints laden here and there that indicate a rollicking good time.

Everything from going undercover to infiltrating an enemy stronghold and halting a terrible scheme from reaching its fruition to arcade games, combat simulators and parties has been included in Citadel. We’re especially interested in the last Achievement, which tasks you to defeat a group of Spectre-level opponents on Normal difficulty and upwards.

Mass Effect 3: Citadel will be launching on March 6th for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 for $14.99/1200 Microsoft Points. A multiplayer only DLC titled “Reckoning” has been recently released and includes new player classes, weapons, equipment and much more. Plus, it’s completely free.
