New layouts, detailed heights and cambers, updated turns, and more runoff are some of the changes made to these tracks in-game.

Codemasters’ F1 series makes no bones about being the most realistic depiction of Formula 1 racing on the market. This extends to the tracks as well, with the developer and publisher Electronic Arts announcing updates to the Spanish, Australian, and Abu Dhabi circuits in F1 22 to match their real-world versions. You can check out each of the update trailers below to see what’s changed.

The Spanish track, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, offers a new layout on Turn 10 while the offtrack areas in Turns 10 to 14 have been updated. Australia’s Albert Park circuit has more detailed height and camber, thanks to LIDAR data, with outfield walls being repositioned and turn layouts updated. Finally, on Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit, the hairpin on Turn 5 has been moved for more runoff while the chicane is gone.

F1 22 is out on July 1st for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC but those who pick up the Champions Edition can play it three days early.
Cross-gen play will be available when the racing sim launches on July 1st but full cross-play for two player Career and Online Social arrives later.

With Codemasters Cheshire recently integrating into Criterion Games for the Need for Speed franchise, it’s easy to forget that the developer is also working on F1 22. This year’s iteration makes a number of changes, from VR support to the new F1 Life which allows for purchasing and racing in Supercars. But what can players expect after launch?

GamingBolt spoke to senior creative director Lee Mather who revealed that cross-platform play would be a post-launch feature. “Being entirely honest, cross-play was a massive feature for us this year, and one we were targeting for launch. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, cross-play will be added as a post launch feature.”

Cross-gen play will still be available out of the gate, so those on PS4 and Xbox One can play with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players respectively from day one. “The game will ship with the same cross generational play as F1 2021, but will gain the ability to play full cross-play in two player Career and Online Social races as early as achievable post launch.” Mather also confirmed that the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions would target 4K resolution at 60 FPS.

F1 22 is out on July 1st for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. You can gain early access on June 28th by purchasing the Champions Edition for $80. This also provides Dual Entitlement, allowing Xbox One players to upgrade to the Xbox Series X/S version and PS4 players to upgrade to the PS5 version.
Check out the fastest lap possible in Codemasters' Formula 1 title which is out on July 1st for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and PC.

Codemasters’ F1 22 has received another trailer that showcases the Miami International Autodrome, one of the new circuits included this year. But while the previous one was all about the various corners and DRS zones on the track, the new trailer is a “hot lap” from the perspective of cover star Charles Leclerc. It provides a first-person view of what the fastest lap on the circuit would look like.

The total race distance is 308.37 kilometers while the top speed achieved by Leclerc is 196 miles per hour. Overall, the track looks good and the sensation of speed is as incredible as always. We’ll see how things fare when there are multiple drivers on track, all jostling for pole position.

Releasing on July 1st, F1 22 will be available for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and PC. Pre-orders of the Champions Edition provide three days early access. Though Story Mode is gone, this year’s iteration introduces F1 Life with players unlocking different clothes, accessories and luxurious supercars to race in.
